: Leaking Vintage Air heater hose connections at firewall

I have a Vintage Air bulkhead connection at the firewall behind the passenger fender. The A/C connections use a special fitting with a rubber O-ring, but they also use this same fitting for the heater hoses. When I just recently completed my heater hose connections, the connection leaked really badly. I took it apart and found that the O-ring had gotten crimped or something, so I put a new one on, but havn't tried it again.

Do these things really work for a water connection ? They seem a little weak to me, and I wanted to make sure that I don't sacrifice reliability in exchange for bling. So if anyone out there has this same setup, does it work for you ?

they've sold probably thousands of those setups, so i think it's probably ok as long as the o-ring is in good shape.

If they hold up to refrigerant pressure, they will easily stand up to coolant pressures. Sound like you just pinched an oring. Put in a new oring and you should be fine.

Is that a gen 4? My pre gen 4 vintage air has the standard pipe nipple.

Exactly, there is more then a couple hundred LBS of pressure on the A/C side, maybe 16LBS on the heater lines. Your fine.
