Ran into a little snag after setting the new motor in the nova. I suspected this might happen so I haven't bolted or glued anything down above the heads. With the weiand 7530 intake, 750 edelbrock carb, and a drop base 3" air cleaner, I can't close the hood graemlins/angry.gif I need to lose about 1" of intake height. So, here's what I need to know. What fel-pro intake gaskets match the ports on these heads (I got 1 set of pro-topline intake gaskets with the heads), and what are my options for an intake? I am thinking maybe something like an edelbrock torker II or weiand 7546/7547. I seriously doubt my 2101 performer intake will seal, but I also think most low rise single plane intakes have stock sized ports on them. I would like to avoid a huge port mismatch, but could live with it for a while as long as it will seal up to the heads.

Why don't I just cough up the $$$ for a cowl hood? Well, I made the mistake of taking the old lady with me to the speed shop to pick up a oil pan, headers, tranny cooler, and other misc. fastners and parts. Then I had to buy 2 new tires for the front of my '78 truck this morning (belts broke in one), and also bought 2 tires for the '86 truck a couple of weeks ago. I think she is dragging my pillow and blankets out to the dog house now :D

I used the 1206 on my 180cc aluminum. Not sure if they 200cc has the same intake port, though.

Travis,

Sorry I can't help you on the intake/cowl hood issue, but I can relate to the mean look that my wife gives when she learns how much Camaro parts cost...."It cost how much!!" graemlins/angry.gif

Well, I dug out an old hot rod mag from back in the 80's where they did a big shootout of over a dozen different intake manifolds. This was from back when HRM wasn't afraid to pit one brand against another graemlins/sad.gif They listed the 2101 as 1/4" taller than a stock iron q-jet intake. The few intakes that was that height or less was the torker II, weiand 7525 street ram, and offy port-o-sonic. The was the only ones tested that you can still buy today that was closest to stock height. The 350 I yanked out of there had a 2101 performer, 600 holley, and a 3" drop base air cleaner...it fit fairly snug in there (leaves a very slight indention in the hood insulation). Any opinions of these 3 manifolds?

are you using a stud and a wingnut to retain the air cleaner?
if so you could go to a standard nut and save about 1/4"what i do is use a castle bolt and get virtually flush with the top of the air cleaner.you might have to shorten it a bit. if you arent using a k&n filter and dont see any airflow probs with the 3"air cleaner, you might see if k&n has a 2 3/4" and give it a try.not sure how much room the edelbrock carb needs to perform right, but it might keep you out of the dog house! graemlins/hurray.gif
as always,Good Luck!
