Hell, I have a 68 Camaro, 327, new Rochester carb, new plugs & wires, new alternator & voltage regulator. At about 50-55 mph after the car is warm, car stalls. Within seconds car starts back up and I keep going. I replaced the distributor with a Mallory series 85 this weekend and it still does it. There's nothing left but the battery and wires. I guess it could be a fuel problem but it seems more like an electrical problem. Stereo system pops becuase I lose power. Any ideas? Not much left to change. Thanks

Sounds like the sock in the tank collapsing and no gas getting thru. Then when you let it sit it lets gas back thru.

If the stereo system pops, you've lost electrical power, not just engine power; if it was just engine power, the stereo would continue to operate from battery power. Look for a bad connection in the main power feed circuit from the battery to the starter solenoid to the horn relay to the multiple connector on the engine side of the fuse block that feeds power to the ignition switch.
:beers:

While reading a lot of these threads across the internet, I didn't find very many that actually had a conclusion. I have a conclusion. The problem has been found to be the "New" carburetor I purchased from Summit Racing. The things pas a POS. I had to hire a Hot Rod specialist. He spent about 4 hours determining the problem was inside the carb. Once he opened the carb up he found the jets to be out of adjustment, literally dumping fuel into the engine. While at the same time, the float was out of adjustment, running the float bowl dry. These 2 problems failed together at 50-55 mph. I would have never suspected an item I already replaced but that was why I gave up. I was suspecting the carb.
