This is my car at a local car show that was held during a Tattoo Expo down here in Deerfield Beach, FL. Tons of cars, but it was a brutally hot day.

I've got to finish the top and interior but here she is so far. I used to cruise Deerfield Beach in my 67 in the late 80's early 90's7680.

Side marker's looked out of proportion to me. Plus I don't like their design, just looks like there wasn't much thought put into them. Don't forget, front grill design is different from a 67 as well.

Yes it is a 250 cubic inch engine with the Powerglide..... I am in the process of dropping in a 330 hp GM Crate engine and turbo 350 trans in it...
I will keep the original powertrain in case I want to change it back to stock...

Its a rare colour as well, is it original paint.

Not the original paint, but it is the original color....Including the Ivy Gold interior.. One other thing about the car that i think is kind of rare is the fold down rear seat...

The crate engine is the only "non stock" mod that I plan on doing....It is something that can very easily be changed back....I am very carefully wrapping and boxing all of the original parts for storage.....

My 68 was an Ash Gold/black vinyl with Gold interior car. It had been painted brown when I got it in '94. It's now red. I always pictured it closer to the Olympic Gold that was on my 69 I had in the 70's. Is it as greenish looking as the picture on my screen? Now I'm kind of wishing I'd gone back to original. What's your interior? Cool car...my 69 had a 250.

Front's are 15"x7" ralley's with 235/60/15's. Rear's are 15"x7" with 275/60/15's. I don't know offset for rims. I bought them used from a club member. Whatever they are, they fit. Front's rub but that's because I have Global West S-2N small block springs up front.

Originally supposed to be O-6, not the resale-red. I would have to agree. There's no way you could pick up a car in that condition for 5k in this part of the country.
I've spent more than that on my basket case + sheet metal already. I still have the front clip yet to finish.

this car was so bad when I got it that the only original parts left now is the roof, header panel, and half the driver door :yes: . . . .

Here is a pic of mine. I've swapped out the original 327/210, powerglide and 8.2 rearend for a built 383, 700r4 and 8.5 10bolt with an auburn posi. I also added a hotchkis suspension, 3rd gen power steering, and aluminum radiator with elec fan. I think the next item on the list is upgrading the brakes. I'm thinking of putting on C5 corvette brakes.

Thank you David for taking the time to share my little street deal with fellow TC,ers.All these 1st gens are wonderful imho..wether modified or bone stock.They are all great.Nice work folks and pat yourselves on the back for a job well done.FWIW..I always spend some additional time viewing the inline 6.many moons ago..we built an oval track 250 that would spank 400 cid v8,s that had more limits on them than we did due to their size.I would luv to replicate that little 250 for the street.:cool:

Oh boy Dave..very nice I must say.The slightest throttle input and the front end goes straight to full extension and stays there until i back down.Never have rolled open the secondarys yet..not sure I want to with the street rubber.This blown unit has no torque curve.It starts high and flatlines from there.I may be a candidate for tire fryer of the year award.lol.

What an assault on the sences eh.I know my blown 461 will wake the dead at 40% throttle angle and 2 chamber 40 series Flowmasters.so much for listening for the death rattle on accel,time for a lighted magnifier and some serious plug readings.:D

George, I also have the 40 Series 2 chamber Flowmasters (409 stainless) and you are 100% correct, they will definetly make listening to a radio a non-event. I planned for such an occasion and opted not to install a radio as it would have been wasted money in my case :yes::D.

I just bought this about a month ago and am loving it. It has a mild crate 350, new TH400 and pretty much perfect interior with all gauges and tick toc tach. I will post questions soon on ways to wake up the engine a bit as it is just a tad mild. Another SS 396 68 Camaro from the stable of Wally Knoch...with a good sized transplant that helps propel this Red Sleeper to 11.4`s at 120+ top end. A stock appearing Big Block disguises a new crate 454 LS7 until it`s running. The Turbo 400 and a 4.56 gear also helps it move out right smartly with 1.5-1.6 60 foot times. It`s one noisy quick SOB.

Front - 235/60 on15"x7" 4.25"B/S - 26.1 Tall
Rear - 255/60 on 15"x8" 4.25"B/S - 26.8 Tall
They fit well, I am getting a little rubbing on the right front tire as it is touching a wheel well bolt on a bump in the road.
The springs are Hotchkis 2" dropped, it sits a little lower than expected, 1" higher would be nicer.

Coupla a questions if ya don't mind: Nick, your paint work looks great....was wondering how difficult it might be gettin the RS headlight assemblies installed with the all the sheetmetal already in place? I'll be doin some assembly here in the comin months....didn't really think it was possible:confused:

Brewhog, luv yer car, they just don't get much better imo. I too like your choice of wheel & tire sizes. Was curious if ya have drum or discs up front? From what I hear, it makes a difference on clearance issues?

I don't know what the clearance issues are for drums vs disk brakes.
I converted from drum/drum to disk/disk and used a kit from CPP. The kit was complete and easy to install. The car handles and stops well.

I've been told that the disk brakes will bring your tire in slightly after converting from drum brakes.

I'm diggin all of these non-spoiler 68's!

johnny67, going from drum to disc will move wheels out some not in

Heres another, 325/396 which is automatically a Super Sport {SS} Camaro by virtue of the big block Chevy. Found with a perfect bucket seat with head rests red interior, consol and gauges. Turbo 400 and another BB with factory air and Astro tinted glass.plus the ralley sport option and vinyl top. Oh yes, WW snow tires are not a option..plus all the tires were flat. A no hit Camaro with perfect stainless

That black and red combination is awesome.
I saw a pic of your car posted a while ago and had thought for the longest time of doing mine in black and red. I even printed yours along with a silver one and a fathom green one and took these to my painter. I finally settled on the silver and black.

Not a thing wrong with Silver and Black. Actually great colors. In fact there two of the three most popular colors. The other is if you could imagine is White.

Yes original Black vinyl on the top. The top caused problems setting in the barn all those years and a serious case of rust in the rear window. This necessitated two new OE rear quarters because they have the sail section high enough that covered the original bad area that was cut out. The car was basically free from rust except the rear window and that was because of the vinyl holding moisture. So I went all the way,

Two new 68 RS fronts and inner skirts plus the core support. Nothing wrong with the doors so they were just taken apart and reassembled after paint. It looked like a burned out hulk of a Camaro not worth 20 bucks. nothing was in it. And I had another in almost the same condition at the same time. Fortunately two different colors so parts didn`t get mixed. I really have to get some of my junks sold, too many of them and all built for myself, without an intention or being made to sell .
