Just curious as to what the perceived value of one these cars is in "todays market". I am working on a trade deal to possibly pick one up. The car has full documentation, is in #1 condition, and is highly optioned. That is all I would really like to say about it until we possibly come to an agreement, I don't want to jinx it. I am new to Camaro, and Chevrolet for that matter, this site is great BTW.

Welcome to Camaros.net. That car would be a tough one to put an accurate value on because you just don't see that many. Of course in "today's market", besides the dip in values, the muscle car world (and Chevrolets in particular) is inundated with fake cars and fake paperwork. Build sheets, protecto-plates, window stickers, etc. are reproduced and are nearly undetectable from aged originals. If the car is in fact a real one, in #1 condition with it's original drivetrain I would guess in the 60-70K area.

Wow, Ok I thought it would do a little better.

A documented, verified, well optioned RS/SS L78 Convertible in #1 condition and good colors would be worth well north of 100K. Even in todays market.
Beware of reproduction paperwork.
This car sounds worthy of an inpection by Jerry M. before any transaction is completed.

I will take that into consideration thank you. Do you know what the cost is appx based on past cost. The car is coming from a known collector that I trust 100%, but I will do my due dilligence for sure.

Welcome to TC!

We've had a couple of cars like that pop up recently for discussion. Here's a thread on a 67 L78 rag that was a former drag car. http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=137057&highlight=L78+convertible

Here's another that was a 68 RS/SS L78, but the thread is over a year old.

I would agree that it is well north of $100K, and the folks who would pay that kind of money for a rare, documented car a few years back still have the resources to have one now, so not that much has changed.

Agree with others. In the condition you describe and with full docs... Car is worth a 100k..or more..easy.

Thanks for the links, I saw the Bat Car thread before you sent it, and wow, what a car. This is all new to me in regards to Chevolet, I have been playing in brand X for the last 15 years. I know docs are very important on the Chevy stuff, and some verifiable history is even better. I think I may be able to swing this car, well see what happens.

Great quote Thorp in regards to John Adams. There are so many other cars to enjoy also besides Camaro though. There couldn't be SCCA without a group to run in it, I am glad we have them all. All though I could have done w/o AMC.
