hey everyone im about to purchase a 79 camaro z-28... only thing is i want to make sure its actually a z.28........ heres what i know about the car so far... its 79, has t tops has no motor but is a 4 speed set up. it doesnt appear to have thee badge in the front grill or rear gas cover. it has a z28 steering wheel...... is there any other basic things i can check to ensure its a z28? like a vin number

Look at the cowl tag it should say Z28. If it don't it's not a Z. 79 Z28s did not have a Z28 emblem on the grill or the gas filler door. They had a blue and white emblem with a small bowtie in the middle.Only the 78 80 and 81 used the Z28 badge.The 79 had a Z28 decal on the left corner just above the grill.The cowl tag is on the left side under the hood near the brake booster.

ok the guy gave me the VIN off the car...... its only 13 numbers... arent they suppose to be 17? or are older cars shorter
