Here's a question...if a car came new as an "RS" package, were the front fenders pre-punched at the factory for the rally-sport emblems on the sides? If non-RS, were there separate quarters?

I believe the RS fenders themselves were different - the tabs that mount the headlight buckets were recessed further toward the back of the car to provide clearance for the headlight doors.

Good question. The RS fenders are different because of the headlight thing but if it also had the SS package the SS emblem are on the sides. I don't think they are prepunched because they wouldn't know if the fender would get the RS or SS emblems. The Assembly Manual gives the mounting hole demensions.

NOS RS fenders have no holes....not even for the lower rocker molding. Not sure if I follow the second question but quarter panels are the same as non RS.

NOS fenders would not have holes because they were an OTC replacement part.

Yes, my second Q is kind of vague :boring:

Basically, I am just curious if the factory had various pre-punched quaters based on the car (RS, Camaro, SS, etc.). I would think so. If my RS Z has the original front quarters, I should see no holes other than the ones the emblems are affixed to....or, not?

All front fenders (RS and non-RS) had the emblem holes pierced in a hydraulic fixture based on the requirements for that particular car; the only surface hole that was pierced in the stamping dies was the marker light hole.
