any ideas what this may be worth: 327 small journal, forged steel crank, 461 camel back heads, CASTING: 3858174. (here's where I got lost when talking to the guy, maybe this makes sense: "something" was 30 under.... something else was 20 under??". I have misplaced the stamp but believe it to be a re-stamp (bad job, at that). Thanks.

'20 under' and '30 under' likely are references to the crankshaft (main and rod journals respecitively) being 'cut' 0.020" and 0.030" undersize to clean them up.

Personally I don't mind going 0.010" under, but I hesitate on a crankshaft cut more than that ...

There's nothing wrong with a 327 Small Journal block; in fact, I prefer them. *S* You can use a 283 crank (most if not all were forged), and make the same as a '67 302 engine... boring up to 0.060" on the cylinders would also not bother me.. but I'd recommend always align boring the block (for the crankshaft) if you bought it and built it. Around our area, this kind of engine might be worth $100 IF you wanted one...
