View Full Version : ProCar Rally Seats
69TAPoser Aug 28th, 08, 09:38 PM A while back I had mentioned that I was going to install these and a few guys wanted some pics...I Installed them today. There are well made and VERY comfortable. I love the side bolsters and the adjustability (they fold back flat). The install was fairly easy. Per usual, some hardware was missing but they were all common bolts that I could replace. They compliment the interior perfectly and fit very well. They look pretty close to the console, but the bolsters actually angle up and just over the console. I wouldn't want them any closer, but the fit is very good. They are perfect for me, but I am only just over 5'8" and about a 38" waist. I would think anyone over 5'10" would need to do some "adjusting" to the seat adapters (I have heard of others having to do this). But for me, the fit is perfect. I couldn't be happier with them:

Oldrocker Aug 29th, 08, 11:43 AM Looks good! Did you also purchase the material for the rear seats from them?
Kev68SS Aug 29th, 08, 01:13 PM Seats look good- where did you purchase? I am 6'2" - you think there may be a problem? Are you talking about getting those floor adjusters that allow the seat to slide back even farther?
Thanks!
69TAPoser Aug 29th, 08, 03:20 PM Thanks guys. Yes, the rear seats are covered with their rear seat kit. The floor adapters are NOT the ones that I think you are talking about (the ones that give you more backward slide). The adapters that I am referring to are the ones you need to install the ProCar seats and they come from ProCar. You HAVE to use them to install their seats in the stock location (unless you make your own).
Also something to note, I read many posts that said the brackets on the adapters should face the front. I did not like the way the seat sat in this position (and this may be why you hear some people say the seats are too tall). I have the brackets facing the rear. Also, the brackets are taller on one end. I put the taller end torwads the back as the floor pan slopes to the back. I found that this put the seat in a good position in the car and as you can see they sit at a nice height, I think what I lost was backward adjustment. But being only 5'8", I still have plenty of leg room and will actually NOT have them slid all the back. So if you buy a set, try them both ways and install as you like. I think taller guys will have to have them installed the other way (brackets facing front).
Also, I bought them via Summit for $301 ea + $65 ea for the adapaters. After I bought them, I found them at Jeg's for $281 ea. So I know where I would go next time. ;-)

tejasrs/ss Aug 29th, 08, 04:33 PM those look nice! Do you have a close up picture of the bracketry you're talking about??
Rocketrod Aug 29th, 08, 05:44 PM Looks great!!! Will you be using stock seatbelts?
Pro-Street69Camaro468 Aug 30th, 08, 08:44 AM Looks nice Phil I used simular seats the scat-2000 and I am 6'-5" 300 lbs and made my own brackets and I still fit in my 69
69TAPoser Sep 6th, 08, 09:18 AM Thanks for the compliments.
I didn't take any pics of the brackets, but they are these:

...if you look closely you will notice one set of tabs is taller. I put the tall ones in the back (although I have read it supposed to go the other way), this is the way I liked them best.
I ordered Simpson camlock lap belts for seat belts:

Brentmc Sep 6th, 08, 09:55 AM Phil,
I found them cheaper at Jegs as well...called Summit to complain and they gave me the difference...Call 'em get some money back....$40 is $40...the brackets may be cheaper too..
67-CAM-RIDER Sep 6th, 08, 01:27 PM i have the same seats for my 67, where did you get the back seat covers? if you do not mind, how much was the rear cover?
Oldrocker Sep 6th, 08, 04:30 PM I just purchased and installed some in my '67 thanks to this post. I bought mine from Jegs, they had a better price then any other price I found, and are my speed shop of choice. I Also ordered the rear seat cover from them. It was $89.95 but it is back ordered. Today was my first trip with the seats and they are great! I'm 6 ft and even though they are taller than the stock seats, When I lay them back to a comfortable level, I have 2 inches of head room.
Brentmc Sep 6th, 08, 04:33 PM did you install the back seat cover yourself?
67pat Sep 6th, 08, 06:06 PM Fella's I'm close to the interior phase of my car and I've always liked this seat so this is a great thread for me...my question or clarity I need is...are you guys saying that you sit higher up in the car than with a stock seat? that actually helps me if this is the case because I am 5'9" and seeing over the big dash and long hood with a sagging stock seat has always been a problem
Brentmc Sep 6th, 08, 06:22 PM These seats make you sit a couple of inches taller. Once I installed them my rear view mirror was suddenly in my line of sight and I now have to try to look under it when I want to see in that area. I'm 5'9"-ish.
69TAPoser Sep 7th, 08, 06:45 AM After I psoted that I had found them cheaper at Jeg's, I did call Summit. They looked them up at Jeg's online and DID give me a $40 credit on my credit card!
As for the rear seat covers, I believe that I also got them via Summit:

I would have installed it myself, but I had to have it narrowed as I have a Firebird (basically the width of a Camaro with a deluxe interior). So I had an interior shop narrow it and install it.
I am just over 5'8", so I found the taller height of the seats perfect for me.

Brentmc Sep 7th, 08, 07:18 AM Has anyone installed their own rear seat covers?...hard, impossible? Do-able?
