I am new to the forum and I have been looking to get into another Camaro. Growing up my neighbor bad a body shop that I started working in when I was 14 and he didn't pay me in cash, he gave me parts. My first car was a 68 Camaro with a 283 and a 3 speed powerglide that my parents SOLD on me when I was away at a pre-college school program one summer before I had my licence.

Needless to say, I wasn't happy. Now that I am in a carrer and financially stable I am itchin to get into another toy. I am really debating on holding out for the right numbers matching 69 SS/Z28, or just buying a nice solid one to start off building with.

I see that nicely restored 69s will fetch in the 20K range, but numbers matching are at least double that.

I will be leaving the country for work next week for a few months, but when I get back, I am REALLY going to start looking. What is the Team Camaro concensis? I am currently living in the D.C. area and will have to have the work on the car done by others.

Thanks and I have really enjoyed scanning the site :D.

When you get back, take a vacation to the midwest and buy "car traders" magazine in the local areas and go from there.

Chad,Welcome to Team Camaro. I would suggest that you do some research on '69 Z/28's before buying one because of dishonest sellers misrepresenting "cloned" Z/28's as original. Go here for lots of valuable info .............http://www.camaros.org/index.shtml

Thanks for the input, but if I was going to buy one, should I hold off until I find the right X77 or X11 car, or just buy an X44 car and play with it (crate motor, aftermarket, accessories) not keeping to the OEM specs. I feel the market for un-restored X77s is being vastly depleted.

If you will have to pay someone to work on your car, I suggest you buy a car that needs no work. You will be money ahead in the long run.

There will still be plenty to learn and do, just by maintaining it and eventually upgrading it to make it your own.
