I am trying to mount the mirror I bought on this site, but I couldn't make sense of the hole locations in pictures provided by other members of their door. Butternut Yellow sent a pic of a mirror on a car in Spain. It isn't even close to what I have. Is mine not correct, or would an export mirror be different ??
Thanks for all help and pics....
Here's a pic of the one I bought.

Your mirror appears to be a Pontiac mirror. Compare with THIS ONE (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/66-67-68-GTO-2-2-LEMANS-FIREBIRD-TEMPEST-REMOTE-MIRROR_W0QQitemZ300252829320QQihZ020QQcategoryZ140 707QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem), THIS ONE (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/65-GTO-LEMANS-PONTIAC-REMOTE-MIRROR-DRIVERS-SIDE-WORKS_W0QQitemZ260278988356QQihZ016QQcategoryZ8073 6QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem), and THIS ONE (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1966-1967-PONTIAC-TEMPEST-REMOTE-REAR-VIEW-MIRROR-L-K_W0QQitemZ270269522513QQihZ017QQcategoryZ10076QQs sPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) on ebay.

Yeah, that's what I thought, Ed. After seeing the one on Butternut's car, I knew something wasn't right. Sure hope the seller will take it back, cause those other mirrors are selling for quite a bit less than I paid for this one... He probably took it off a Camaro, but Chevrolet didn't put it on there...:noway:
Thanks for the links and help.....

According to Paul Herd ("Chevrolet Parts Interchange Manual"), the same mirror (Part No. 3899857) was used on Camaro, Chevelle and Nova. No mention of Pontiac, and I do believe what you have is a Pontiac mirror

The mirror itself looks like much the same, but the mount is altogether different

Thanks for the part #, Antonio... I'll be checking the Chevelle and Nova boards too.
The seller is taking it back for a complete refund...:hurray: too bad it isn't correct......it's in /really nice condition.

Have you considered using the plain (non remote) mirror? They are pretty sleek too, and they do offer the advantage of allowing installation of a like looking passenger side mirror (*). Just remember that 67 mirrors are all round in shape.

With the remote, you're stuck with only a driver side mirror, because this one cannot be installed "on the other side"

Just a thought

(*) Non standard, but good for safe driving.

I will probably end up with a standard mirror. I just thought it would be nice to have an "upgraded" and correct date coded mirror.;)
