hey guys, i trying to figure out why my motor is smoking alittle. Since i got the camaro from my uncle he let sit for awhile. I cranked it up and it smoked pretty good but since I let it run its gotten better. I haven't got insured yet so i crank it up at least once a week and it still smokes but when i check the dipstick it haven't burn a single bit of oil. But when i first ran it , it burned alot but since it stoped but still smokes. i figured it mite be the valve seals?????????

Thanks, Matt

wipe the area around the valve cover gaskets clean and check for leaks there too,but i'd bet on valve seals if the problem goes away as the engine warms up.

I vote for valve seals. Good news is it's not a hard fix. Even better news is that if it only smokes a little right when you start it, you could close your eyes for the first 5 seconds (that's how long it lasted on my 87 Camaro) and ignore it for awhile. I waited six months to replace mine. smile.gif
