My name is Eddie, an i own an 89' Camaro RS. Currently, the motor in it is a 2.8 MPFI. However, i want to put my rebuilt (stock 355 sbc) with a 650, 4brl carb. I plan on running my 700r4 and 3.23posi rear end. My Camaro is my day to day cruiser, i want performance but nuthin to special.

1)My major problem currenlty is that i dont know how to convert fuel injection to carburation, should i run a mechanical pump? Do i have to remove the fuel pump in the tank and what about the fuel lines?

2)Originaly, I own the tpi with complete wiring harness is what i wanted to run. When i layed out 10feet of wiring i was completly overwhelmed. So i dropped it, and bought a carb. Good or bad idea? 3) Should i remove the Air Con if it doesnt work? (NOT A T-top) I want to remove as much wiring and B.S. as i can. Whats gotta go?

Thanks for your advice......I need it.

1. You can put a regulator or swap to an in tank pickup from a carb car while putting mechanical fuel pump
Should be able to reuse the old fuel line.
2. TPI is good fuel injection but runs out of steam around 4500 rpm and falls on it's face above 5500 rpm. They are not very complicated to install but do need some aftermarket parts to make them breathe till higher rpm. Carb is simpler and will probably let you run higher rpms with more power cheaper.
3. I would actually vote to keep AC and fix it but currently mine is not working either. There were few times i wished i had working ac. It's not much more wiring at all anyway

I own a pretty quick 90 Z. My recommendations,
1.) Keep the TPI. Order 87 IROC-Z injectors for the 350.
TPI is sooo simple to install and tune-once youve done it you wont believe...you done it.
2.) Youll have to get an aftermarket lock-up for the trans. Not hard but s psin when it breaks.
3.) If you keep the carb you will have to remove the intank pump. Mech cant pull gas thru it. Ive tried.
4.) The AC is your choice. However mine blows 37* on the way to the track. With the belt, car runs 12.57. I can remove belt and go faster. Turn on AC and then get 21 MPG and go wee-wee-wee all the way home.
All my humble opinion of course.
