Well its time for a cage and I was wondering if anyone has had luck with any specific vendor or if a cage is just a cage. BTW, its going in a 73 Nova.

Thanks again guys. graemlins/beers.gif graemlins/beers.gif

I have had nothing but good luck with products from S&W Racecars. Check them out at: www.swracecars.com (http://www.swracecars.com)
They have great products and cutomer service. If your looking to order one, call Don Scholl. Great guy to deal with. Call him at 1-800-523-3353 X-12.
You also can't beat their prices.
Good luck.

67rs6sdd,
Who is the guy doing your friends car?
I live in Pa and know of several shops up here. There are a few you got to watch out for.

ditto on having one custum bilt. i know a few great chassis builders around here, but that is little help to you, across the us from me and all. i have seen the kits in cars, and some do turn out pretty good, but i have yet to see one compare to a custom built set up. they just fit tighter to the interior, and you can have certain aspects of them designed to fit your needs. just for a cost example, around here, for a good chassis builder to do a 6 point or so, is around 900$. well worth it IMO.

I'd like to respond to the cage kits made by S&W. Most of you know that i'm doing a cage in my 69 camaro and have talked a lot about S&W. Their kits are good, and I have not had one bit of troubles with mine. If you want, you can go to my page and check out what is going on in my garage. If you do have any questions for the folks at S&W, call and ask for Don Scholl. Very good guy to talk to. He'll set you straight and maybe even give you a good deal on a kit.
I'm also going to be working on my cage this weekend too.

I started on the main hoop tonight but have a quick question. Does this look like enough clearance for the convertible top? I think it does but I cannot remember where the top pads go and want to be sure before I weld this thing together. The top is all the way down in the picture. Thanks in advance, Phil

Phil, I would tack all of the bars first and raise and lower the top before final welding to check clearances. Also, the car should be fully leveled and supported on jackstands. Also, you asked for pics of my cage earlier in this post. I just loaded them yesterday. Link is in my signature. The rollcage and roof pics will somewhat show the cage. I`d take better one`s, but the car is at the bodyman. Brent

prostreet L-78,
Yours looks great! I've decided to install only 4 or 6 points of my cage. I want to stiffen the car as much as I can but I don't plan on racing and I don't want to have to climb over the bars everytime I get in and out of the car. I looked at the swing out bars but they don't seem as stiff if only installing a 6 point. I have decided to build a tubbed big block hard top next. I'll put all of my go-really-fast urges into that car and just enjoy the convertible. My wife still has thoughts that we are going to throw the car seats in the back of the convertible and go to the beach.
