We're planning on going, but haven't been since Katrina knocked us out in '05. What are the accommodations like? I "heard" only about 50% were rebuilt?
The place where we used to stay (on I-90) was reduced to a slab. :-(

Randy,

Are you going to stay there or drive back to Louisiana. Where in Louisiana do you live? I go out of Houma to go offshore. I got hotel reservations last year and the last time I went was before Katrina. It is nothing like it used to be. All the old mansons are gone except the Johnson house. Hwy 90 is pretty bare. I had friends go last year and they said it was a blast. I looked at there website and they have 3267 registered as of August. They have the bridges built back between Bay St. Louis and Pass Christian. The old part of Bay St. Louis is gone and they are having the show at the train station. I also heard they were trying to get the road resurfaced so I hope it all screwed up.

Go to there website and they have the hotels listed. We are staying at the Quality Inn in Biloxi.

How much were the rates? Any casinos still have rooms available?

You guys had better be calling for rooms. I paid 129.00 a night at a motel. The casinos are twice that much.

John here, we'll be down there Friday morning and staying till Sunday. The wife and I went last year and had a blast.I took a Black 66 chevy II down to sell last year.We put out lawn chairs on the side of the hwy. at the mall entrance and enjoyed the show. We're taking my 8 year old boy this time, he's pumped.

We'll be taking a Tahoe Turquiose 67RS/SS , a Butternut 67RS and a red 69RS.

Hopefully IKE won't mess things up.

A few notes from this year's event. I-90 is still jacked up and is one lane in too many sections, but should be clear for next year. Captain Al's only serves steak and shrimp, but both are excellent. Weather was great. I looked, but didn't find a '70 model RS. :( A LOT of the shops and restaurants on I-90 are still MIA and it doesn't look like they'll return. Several new condos and casinos are being built.

Overall a solid event with not as many rods as pre-Katrina, but it's growing (heard ~4,500 or so were pre-registered?).
