Welcome to TC.

It is looking good. I like the stance and the big tires. Where in Ohio do you live?. My wife is from Hamilton and I went to High School in Ross. We just went to Goodguys in Columbus in June. Thanks for sharing your pictures. This site has some good info and alot of nice people.

Honestly the color choice has been the thoughest choice yet! Had it narrowed down to a few colors, but finally decided on a color that i just love almost a factory orginal color for this car its off a CRV honda its called green tea met., Its a med green met and it will be two toned with an ivory off white roof with a off white and tan interior roll cage will be a satin ivory aswell.
I was hopeing to get the body back off the frame here soon but after talking to my painter he suggested to get the rest of the front clip lined up and and all the body gaps perfect and then insatall my cage finish the body itself to 95 % and then get it off the frame so i can get my air ride in and start smoothing the frame. Ive done all the work on the car my self and love every minute of it nice stress releiver to get away from the business. But its getting a lil closer engines about to come out and head to the machinest next weak! I'll keep you updated!

Hey guys been working on my front clip now!
I have so much time in this front clip only its scares me to think about it probably more than most subtle street machines have in the whole car! lol
welded the hood to the fenders down low open the hood pancake style at the top where the body line is molded the head light rings removed all the trim and that just the outside of it lol,
custom built inner fender wells reversed the top part of the hood to open backwards made new mounting points and custom hood braces, still have to smooth the under side of the hood and did i mention this thing tilts as a whole forward!
flipped the front bumper aswell as the back! tapered the ends made new filler panel and bumper brackets smoothed bolt holes on bumper etc.
OW my brain is hurting.
Was at the engine shop the other day and arrived when it was heading for the hot tank cleaner. He Said everything looks great on the motor so far, dropped off my cam etc. while i was there cant wait to get it back.
He mentioned being that i plan on deburring and smoothing the block too probably to get the machine work done take it and smooth the block and paint it then bring it back for him to put it together, Motor will be body color! I'll keep you posted.

And will all tilt forward as one unit!

Thanks guys love to share the photos nobody comes to the garage anymore they realize i put them to work! plus they see what im into and its alittle more than an oil change they want nothing to do with helping! lol

I'm searching for my tilt photos i know i had soe if not i'll snap some this weak end! But i have to make a confession, " I never new how to turn a welder on before i started on this car" I have built a few of my cars in the past but had others do what i wanted metal wise and none were quite like this anyway but i have always wanted a custom Hot Rod. And one that you done see much of and when i painted a mental picture of all these curves with fat tires and the right stance thats all the motivation i needed. Going on 2 1/2 years now from scrath but really, never welded a day in my life. But learned real quick and just paying attention to deatails and not rushing! so far i havent gotten bored with it , just try to remind myself its like lil chapters in a book. Anyway glad you guys like and heres a few other pics through out the build a few of my under hood mock up and i had to raise my drive shaft tunnel to clear saft with air ride!

You can see what the old dash sarted out as in the sec photo too now 3rd photo
Also running a 56 2-10 Wheel and an IDIDIT column no ignition i will use a flip switch panel above the visor hidden to start car like a race car.

Plus it will make working on the car so much easier, Heres a few other photos I found Hope you guys like photos lol
I smooth up my calipers to cleaned up the face of them did away with that oval arch on the side of them and smoothed rockers up under the doors etc.

Heres a color real similiar the color im looking at is from new Lexus a sage green pearl. Wanted a soft color that has the feel of an older vehicle still too it and you just really dont see this color much let alone on a 48 let alone on a pro street let alone well Hell lets just say i figure i will not be parking next to many like it!

Beleive it or not it took almost 2 years to really decide on paint and wheels and just when you thought you had it figured out comes some sweet new wheels but centerline made this decision easy for me i really love the older salt flat style wheels and wasnt really impressed with american racing street versions " finish , weight of them etc" so what do they do come out with a new line of wheels in exactly what i was looking for and in the look in racing light weight form!

George,

I would see about having a aluminum shroud made for your electric fan. I am not a big fan of the holders that go thru the fins. I had a griffin radiator that leaked after about 3 years. There is the small area on the top and bottom where you could bolt it on with some nutserts. That is what I did.

But it still looks good.

Good minds think alike im building a fan shroud around the fan to blend in with the inner fender wells, lol
Not a big fan of plastic holders but have it on now for mock up and for placement the goal is to have all fastners under the hold not visible, " or at least as many as possible. for a smooth look like it should not be able to run look to the engine and engine compartment, by smoothing it up! More metal work starts tonight. i'll keep you posted!

PRO 48 Fleetline
Nov 10th, 08, 08:39 PM
Thanks Its a Professional Products peice. Its an exact copy of the Victor JR. just not made in the states and it does have a pretty nice finish2 it
And better yet when compared to all other intakes this one actually out flowed the others in a side by side test. Alot of Dirt track guys are using them and cleaning the ports up some and getting some really big numbers out of them and for the cost cant beat em!

I bought this peice new as is for like $165.00 I know people swear by Victors and they are great peices aswell as Brodix and team g's even dart makes a nice peice but none are polished, flow near aswell and are in this price range wasnt a hard decision lol

This is how it looked out of the box i havent even started smoothing the runners up or any port work yet, going to run a 750 mighty Demon with it and a HVH super sucker 1" 4 hole tapered spacer

"going to run a 750 mighty Demon with it and a HVH super sucker 1" 4 hole tapered spacer"

I like the Demon carbs, having run one on a 68 427 and on my zz502 car. But, 850 on my 502 started giving problems after a few thousand miles. It took a while to find, but it ended up all the screws in the bottom that hold it together worked loose.

I knwo people tht love em and hate em lol but love the quality in the parts itself with the billet bodies and parts. Have noticed a good of the pro builders using them and John Kaase won with a demon in the Engine building Challanges. Plus they are probably one of the best looking carbs out there aswell IMO.
Started fitting radiator last night and boy it barely fits. but it does and should work well may have to wait till motor gets back to build final placement brackets to make sure the electric pump will clear etc.

Nice work George, dig the car! You don't see them much but they have sweet lines.
Definitely brings back some memories, my cousins' first car was a '46 Fleetline that his dad did in the late 70's, I remember back when it at first had fender well headers and a tunnel ram, seriously old school  . He got it as his first car after an engine fire cooked most of the wiring underhood (note the primered hood) , he had to rewire it before he could drive it! (it should be like that for every kid's first car, learn to work on it first). It was a blast we had a ton of fun cruising around in it.
Here's a picture of him and I with both of our first cars, his '46 and my '68, the good 'ol days :beers:

Nov 11th, 08, 09:44 PM
Yes you gotta love the cragers, I kind of chuckled when I posted that picture because of the obviously 'vintage' camera and both cars where sporting cragers :D . The Camaro actually had cragers up front and aluminum slotted mags in back, oh the good old days.....;)
We had a blast with his car, It's still somewhere around here but I have not seen it since the early 90's, it actually was getting a pro street treatment kind of like yours.
My Camaro on the other hand.....was not so fortunate. Heres the short story...
It was a 6 cylinder base model car, but I built a screaming little 283 for it, dug up a set of 15X8 ralleys in a junk yard if you can imagine and spent every night and weekend as a high school kid helping a guy do bodywork and paint on it, it was pretty nice looking especially for a 16 year old punk kid (but I did do ALL the work on it but the paint and body).
I always loved cars and remember sitting in my Uncles garage with my cousin (the one with th 46, of course ) rowing through the gears of a 68 Camaro that he was painting when I was about 8 or 9, that was the beginning of my love of 68 Camaros.
I got a job as a mechanic at 17, and shortly after realized working on hotrods I loved, working on other peoples greasy junk I hated, so I quickly burned out on cars and sold my beloved Camaro to a kid that was 18 or 19, and he totalled it about two months later. I think my cousin still has not forgiven me for that especially after I showed him the 'remains' of my Camaro. It ended up scrapped in field and years later disapeared, I have no idea what happened to it (I do still have the original registration with a vin on it however).
I had a TON of good times in that car and somewhat regret selling it, but my current 68 rs is 10 times the car and in much better shape to start out, so I don't really regret it.
Here's a kind of crappy 'after' picture of it, missing the gas cap because some jackass stole it just before I took the pictures.

Started smooth up my hood a little more tonight. I had to weld a lip onto the edge of the hood that i cut open it the top. i test fit the top of the hood seems to line up real nice. have to build radiator mounts from scratch as is everything else on these damn Custom hot rods lol

Being the front end tilts forward the rad. has to stay on the frame so i just cant mount it in the normal locations that would be to easyyy lol.
But hey if it was easy everyone would be building one lol.
Heres a few pics of the hood after first cut of grinding now i will have a smooth lip to weld my inner fenders to aswell.

Hey guys made a lil progress on the custom rad. support Unlike most normal cars where you have a rad support to bolt to my front end tilts so everything goes forward and the rad stays to the frame! so i had to make up a simple yet effective solution to mounting it from the frame only and, its all just tached in for now but seems to work great plus its still fairly light weight!

Also just got my Block back today, Couldnt wait to get started on smoothing it up, this is first cut so far but looks like it will smooth up quite nicely, it will be body color aswell. I'll keep yo uposted Later George

Yeh great ? thats why i didnt have the short block assembeled because of the possible metal shavings, will get it all painted and polished up and send it back so he can clean it real well!
Cant wait to get the assembly together!
Im going to do the top end engine guy will do the botton end.
And no not any dead lines to make thank god. thats the best part i can take my time and not rush any details and make it the way i want it! will be getting on the firewall to finish smoothing it up and my chassis guy is comming out to check car out for the roll cage. body guy is lined up for dec. sometime were going to get all the body panels fitted and than break it back apart and start smoothing the body and finish blocking it!

I painted a 68 BB Vette metallic green mainly because it was the factory color (well almost, British Racing Green). I have never had so many people give so many positive comments on the paint as with that green car. Seems like a lot of people like a metallic green car.

Nice work on the block!

Ive always liked those orginal style colors and you just dont see many green cars they really stand out in the crowd. There really subtle and timeless

Will be a little why'll i was going to get the body off the frame and start smoothing it up but i had my painter come in and i got his input he mentioned that may be better to get all the panels to and door gaps razor sharp and straight, get all the metal hung " inner fender wells ecspecially" witch i still have to finish and hood lined up nice and tight than start on body get it 95 % done than break body down off the frame and i can get too working on it and smoothing it up,
Still have to get my cage in probably a month or so with that, but like i mentioned before lil chapters but wow how the holidays screw up schedules work and hot rod work time had to visit the inlaws in Wisconsin for a weak what fun -14 % wheather not for me glad to be back in ohio.

Cant wait to get it in some color hell even one color of primer would get me excited but when you start a custom hot rod or any car as far as that goes you have to be patient to go the long haul on all the mods and not rush the details within them, This car has so many subtle mods some that most would not even notice! There is times i wish i built a stock bodied car restoration wise, you buy a fender and bolt it on etc, Here your fabbing almost everything BUT when comepleted and all shiny, standing tall I beleive and HOPE the effort will be worth it!

Heres an example of what an original 48 fleetline looks like and a pic of mine looks like side by side see if you can point out the changes! lol
