: Big Block Rear Main Bearing Saddle Dimension?

Can someone help me the the correct dimension for the rear main saddle? I have a block here and all the mains measure out at 2.937", while the rear main (thrust bearing) measures at 2.97. Seems odd to me but maybe it is wider to accomodate this bearing.

Thanks a lot!

Joel,
The correct dimension is 2.937" - 2.938" Are you sure you are measuring the back one correctly ? Does it look damaged, like maybe it spun the bearing ? I dont know if I have ever seen a rear main spin. They should all be the same. They do make some oversize OD bearings, but it would be pretty unusual to only do one. Almost impossible actually :(

Hi Bill,

Thanks for your reply. I looked at it again and it turns out I am in fact within the acceptable range. I had the block converted to 4 bolt mains and the rear cap was really tight and not completely seated, causing the misreading. I felt really stupid for not catching it, but also hugely relieved.

Thanks again,
Joel
