Hey all, as most of you know I built a new engine and used a roller valve train and am unsure if it is a solid roller or not. Im running a lunati roller with these specs:

lunati special purpose roller cam
Adv. Duration: 288°/269°
Gross Lift: .590''/.600''

I got the cam along with there matching roller lifters. I wanted to know if they were solid lifters because they are hollow with a spring inside of them that you can see. They dont look like the OEM type.

Thanks for your help. Im looking for close to 500 hp do you think my combo has it?

They are the spring loaded Horizontal SOLID lifters

What`s the .050 numbers and what is the sep: 112,110,108 ?

Those are some big heads for a motor of that size

How can you get 10:1 flat top pistons with 74CC heads. I've got the standard TRW 4 notch flat tops (L2256-030 I think) with 64Cc heads and only get 9.72:1. I have to beleive unless you have the pistons above the top of the block you must be running about 8:7 to 1 compression.

well if my compression is that low then ill just put a huffer on it. I just had my engine rebuilt using the same parts that were all ready in it. I poped the intake gasket and oil and water went everywhere. When that happened I never started the engine again. I took it to the machine shop and he was amazed how clean the inside of the block was, he said he could still see the hone marks from when he built it 15 years prior (The motor sat a long time in our garage) I only got a year of limited use out of it, it was my high school import killer. All my parts were selected by a professional. If it doesnt work out well ill just build a new motor.

How can you determine compression? Does the engine need to be running? and yes I have the same pistons with the 4 notches on top.

Making a whole bunch of guesses with DD2000, I get a compression ratio of 8.74:1, a peak HP of 442 @6000 RPM peak torque of 426 ft lbs @ 5000 RPM.

2000 RPM 121HP 318 Ft-Lb
2500 RPM 158HP 331 Ft-Lb
3000 RPM 198HP 346 Ft-Lb
3500 RPM 252HP 378 Ft-Lb
4000 RPM 308HP 405 Ft-Lb
4500 RPM 362HP 422 Ft-Lb
5000 RPM 405HP 426 Ft-Lb
5500 RPM 431HP 412 Ft-Lb
6000 RPM 442HP 387 Ft-Lb

You better have a steep set of gears with this engine

auto or stick?
if auto, stall?
gears?
lobe sep angle?
why not 6" rods?

and as was stated, big cam for a 350 and might want more compression
also thinking that the primary tubes are kinda small, 1-3/4" might help a little as well

for reference my 396 LT1 cam is 242/248@.050 w/ .609/.616 lift on a 112 lobe sep (12.2:1, actual head flow #s) makes 599 peak hp according to DD2K, NOT the most accurate program, better for comparisons

Those look like Crane solid roller lifters.

Ok everyone I found all the info on my cam on holleys web site.
http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/ProdLine/Products/IEC/IECC/Chevy4.html

My cam is part number 50103 hope this helps.

And to answer a few ?'s my car is an auto (th400) and i plan on running a 3200+ stall along with some 3.73 gears. I would go 4.11 but i dont want to spring for a new posi unit.

They mention a 4000 rpm stall http://www.camaros.net/forum/eek.gif not gonna be very nice on the street... Is this for street use? Is this beast already together? If not you should re-think your cam choice. If you are spending the money on a roller I'd suggest a hyd roller that makes power from 2000-5000 over the 3500-7000 this one does...

Yep its all paid for and installed. I have the long block on the stand in my garage. I wanted to build someting for the track and for street use. Vintage air is on the list of to dos. Do you think I can break in to the 11's with this?
