hello all, my car 69 camaro was in a thousand pieces when i bought it. it came with the factory passenger deluxe door and two standard drivers doors. i have since bought both factory doors off of a show car a guy decided to make into a drag car:noway:. what i need is the door mechanism and stalk for window regulator for driver side for deluxe interior. i know that the stalk will be the same for both sides. my question is. i have read on here that an early to mid olds 98 stalk will work. i took apart a 84 olds 88 today and it was totally different. i just want to see if anyone on here knows for sure what will work as far as the stalk goes. thanks for any help. ken

thanks andrew for the quick reply. i have read all those post. the man at the junk yard said his book showed the 1984 olds 88 took the same window regulator as the 1984 olds 98. so i took the 88 door panel off and it was totally different all plastic. what i am trying to find out is if the 88 and 98 are different? exactly what years i need to be looking for ect.

so the main question is what exactly will work. thanks ken

here is what i printed out and took with me to the junkyard.
How to switch from standard length regulators to deluxe length:

1. Remove door panel.
2. Remove water shield.
3. Look for rivets that hold splined shaft (stalk)to window regulator and drill them out.
4. Remove stalk with retainer shell.
5. Remove stalk from retainer shell and safely store the retainer as you will be re-using it.
6. Measure length of old stalk, or take it with you to the junk yard.
7. Find an early to mid 80's Oldsmobile 98 at junk yard and remove stalks just like you removed yours.
8. Take new longer stalks and insert them into your old retainer shells.
9. Rivet the new assembly back onto your old regulator which is still in your door.
10. Reinstall water shield, door panel, window crank, and interior door handle.
