I am rebuilding an original points distributor.
Should use a special lubricant on the main shaft when assembling ?

Thanks

Dielectric grease. It is pretty much available at any autoparts store. And don't forget the plastic seal that goes over the well (which should be filled with dielectric grease).

I think the figure for endplay is .012-.020" Shims are available from Summit to adjust that if you are out of spec.

DO NOT reem or hone the sintered bushes...uwill kill their lubricating properties and cause fast and exessive shaft wear.
and a special tool is used to put theses in...they are pre machined to size.

These bushes should be soaked in oil BEFORE fitting
