I am looking for a panel to cover the old AC unit hole that will allow the heater and defroster to work. Does anyone know where I can find one for a good price? Used will work too.

I've cut a section out of a donor firewall and welded it in to convert from A/C before, but it is a lot of work to get there. You could check with a few of the aftermarket A/C-heater suppliers (Classic Auto Air, Vintage & etc...) to see if they have any cover solutions that may work. Otthe than tha, I'd just make a plate yourself. Jarcaines Sep 9th, 08, 12:55 PM GM never made such a plate ... Thanks for the list of possibilities. 68ss427camaro Sep 9th, 08, 01:10 PM Try www.acdelete.com (http://www.acdelete.com) . They make covers that look factory. I've never used one before, but they look like they would do the job. Joe Jarcaines Sep 9th, 08, 01:46 PM Try www.acdelete.com (http://www.acdelete.com) . They make covers that look factory. Joe Yeah, I saw those, I was hoping I could do this for something less then the $170 they are wanting, but I haven't found much else out there, so it might be the route I have to go. It's a funtional part that looks factory and retains all heater operations. http://www.acdelete.com/images/covers/67-69F-BodyACDelete.jpg I suppose if you are a skilled fabricator with the proper tools, equipment, and supplies, you could make your own. CarlC Sep 14th, 08, 09:51 AM I've been using the American Graffiti part for about five years. It works fine and has good engine clearance. You may need to rewire and relocate the speed resitor, A/C clutch, etc. I looked at it this way. At $10/hr I could spend 17 hours fabricating something and break even. I don't think I could come close to doing the materials shopping, making molds, lay-up, trimming, drilling, and finishing in that kind of time. |
