What weight oil are you guys using in your 502's 10w/40 or 20w/50?

The marine versions I have done in the last two years (four of them) are running 15w40 Mobil1. What does GM recommend ? 20w50 is too "thick" for my taste, especially considering that most of GM's crate engines have pretty tight clearances.

My specs call for 5W30 racing synthetic but, this really seems a bit too light weight compared to what I used in the past with my other big blocks.

How does 1 quart of oil consumption sound every 500 miles?

Also valve train noise has been excessive.

Oil pressure was normal, using good oil.

Not vendor bashing, just info.
