Did someone used one of these engine in their 1st Camaro? If so what were the issues? Can this engine accept a mechanical fuel pump?

yes it can use a mech fuel pump

According to Pace Performance, which is generally pretty accurate, the block has NO provision for a mechanical fuel pump.
