First off, the jute faces the trunk. Secondly, there should be a couple of knock-out slots in the fiber board/cardboard material that correspond to a couple of 'hooks' on the metal frame that the upper rear seat back rests against. You may need to cut holes in the jute where the knockout slots are. There will also be some perforations or folds that help the upper 'shoulders' of the divider to conform to the intersection of the metal frame and the side panels. That's basically it - you hang the divider on the two hooks. It does not get glued to the metal frame.

I actually just took mine out while tearing the car down and that is exactly how it came out. It was just hung on the hooks. I was like WOW.

Also, It is NOT an exact reproduction. An exact repoduction does not have the jute. And the moment you install it, your trunk will not look like original. It is really kind of a dumb "reproduction" piece. I would like it better if they made it so that the hard cardboard shell was to the inside of the trunk and the jute (soft cloth) was to the back seat. If you try to install it this way, it won't fit.

Yep, I agree, there was no jute on my original but any added insulation seems like a good idea. Seems like ya should be able to modify it a bit to make it work with the jute towards the seat??

Looks like the 12.99 special to the right (no jute) might be the "exact" repo.

Mine is just a piece of cardboard.

As I understand it, Firebirds came from the factory with the jute insulation on the trunk divider, Camaros did not.

In that case, I suppose the simple thing to do would be to buy the plain trunk divider, get some jute material from a local upholstery shop and glue it on whichever side you want to.

Otherwise, the 'dumb' reproduction is correct for a GM F-body car, just not a Camaro (as opposed to not being correct at all).

Another way to look at it is that the 'dumb' reproduction piece is at least somewhat correct for a GM F-body car; just not a Camaro (as opposed to not being correct at all).

I just recut the slots so I could reverse the divider. That way the jute is to the inside. The painted side is to the trunk, however, which I think is incorrect.

i just installed mine, not much origional left in my car so it really dosent matter, had to trim it quite a bit for the DSE tubs, but i think it will really help in the noise factor...put the pad towards the trunk, think it looks good, better than the back of the seat.thats my 2 cents worth
