I own a 91 RS with a 305 tbi and 700R4. I have searched for the info but would like more please. The 305 is tired and in need of a swap! I would like to get a 350. I see 350 tbi's for sale could I just drop that in and plug the tbi and everything else up and go? Also I see alot of carb 350's if i got one of those would it be hard to change over( what about the computer , sensors, and it running right?) I'm not worried emissions just want more power. Any info is greatly appreciated:beers: Thank you.

First you really need to decide what you really want.
I explain.
For me, I like carb engines cuz I'm old. :)
Really, I like them for their simplicity and they can be worked on.
No electronics stuff to worry my old brain with.
Yeah, you gotta let them warm up first start and you can't just jump in and go like an injected car.

Do you want to stick with tb?
Do you know carbs?

I have an 83 Z28 305 carb and right now I'm saving up for a new complete ZZ4 (come on Santa you fat bastard! you know I deserve it!)

Budget.
What can you afford?
You want to swap out for a decent donor engine or maybe crate?
Donors, you take your chances but the prices are manageable.
And swap out shouldn't be too hard.
I'm not sure if you'd need a tuner to get the replacement going(prolly not).

Well, I hope this gets this thread moving for you.
It's a huge decicsion for some folks...........

#1. I'm going to get a used engine.
#2. I would like to get a 350 TBI hoping it will plug in and go with minimal tinkering.
#3. If I find a good cheap 350 thats carburated how hard is it to change my car over to carb?(I'm looking for a early 80's to early 90's engine you know nothing to old I believe their different right?) Also their easier to work on than fuel injection.
I understand it should fit right in and bolt up to everything nice nice.
But if I change over to carb what do I need to do?( will I have to get a different fuel pump or a fuel pressure regulator, what about the computer will my engine run or will I be ripping my hair out trying to fix it?)

If I get a 350 Tbi here's what I'm hoping - To undo all connections on my engine while marking whats what- Unbolt it from the tranny, mounts, etc etc- Take my engine out without messing anything up- Put the 350 in without messing anything up- Bolt it up to the tranny, mounts, etc etc- To connect all the marked wires connections and stuff- And hopefully start it up and go :D.
Does that sound about right or am I just dreaming!!!

:confused:Please if you have any info on dropping a Tbi 350 in and hooking it up let me know please.

All information is greatly appreciated and much needed I l love my car and just wanna give her the power she deserves( Her name is maxine by the way:)) Shes a moody bitch but I love the 3rd generation camaros especially with the T tops.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read all this I hope you all the best.

hey i put a gm performance crate motor in my 89 iroc and its carburated the heck with the sensors get rid of the all you need from the old wiring harness is your hot wire the one from the alternator, oil sensor and thermastat sensor just say they heck with the rest it was really easy and you will need to figure out what you want to do with your fuel pressure i just used a regulator

i would get a gm new 350 and just put it in with the fatory stuff it will work just fine with no mods. A USED MOTOR IS A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY IT WOULD PROBLEY SMOKE OR BE TIRED.

Will you break down your build? Where, How much, any part numbers someone might need ect. I would love to trash my lo3 tbi. It came with a rebuild. Dont ask me why the guy rebuilt it but I have the paper work to prove it. Stupid.

Well I have the 305. Was thinking about putting a 350 in it. Your hp/tq numbers sound like what I would be looking for. Your working with a new 350 block right? What I was wondering was what power adders you are using. Things like intake, heads, exhaust, cam, ect.
