Dave that does help some. is there a plate between the speedo and bezel? i found to shouldered bolts that look like yours that fit the holes in speedo but they do not tighten down all the way. is there a rubber washer between the bolt and bezel? here is a pic of what i have so far. there has got to be something missing. what is the purpose of the clip? i really need to figure this out because i did not take the car apart. aim is no help that i can find.

Ken,
It's kinda hard to tell from your pic but it looks like your missing the rubber gasket and clamp to hold your speedo cable in place. Here's a couple of pics. The clip is molded into the rubber. You push your speedo cable in and you will hear it click into place. When you need to remove your cable, you press on the metal tab and pull the cable off.

dennis i have found the repo clip but it does not have the rubber on it. do you know if you can buy the rubber with clip. that is the problem even if i had the clip there is to much room between the speedo and the bezel. so the bolts will not tighten down. i guess if i got the clip. i could just make a rubber piece to make it tighten up all the way. do you know how thick that rubber is? in ramairdaves pic up above there is no rubber. it almost looks like there is another metal plate in between the speedo and bezel.

It's not very thick. You could probably make one out of an old inner tube. That's about the right thickness. I'm not sure what that is in Dave's pic. Don't remember seeing that on any I have pulled out. Looking at mine again, the clip may have just imbedded itself in the rubber after 30+ years. I didn't want to pull on it to find out.
