Does anybody run a dana 44 in their combo?
I was wondering how strong they are because I just got one reasonably cheap, with c-clip eliminators for my 86. Well any posts will be appreciated.

Ran Dana 44s in sand drag jeeps years ago, they seemed real strong, never broke one, only twisted driveshafts. Used a full house Boss 302 4 spd and l6 inch wide paddle tires, many others used 44s, never saw a broken one

They are good axels I like them because the off road industry has produced so many gear sets and locking diffs for them the only time I saw one brake was at the drags and some guy ran one behind a blown BB

It's going in a high 10sec 86 camaro, so you guys feel I should not have any problems?

The Dana 44 is a good axle. It has a 8.5 diamiter ring gear and none of them had C clips. They are a real pain to shim because of the way Dana set them up, but their way is stronger than the easy way. It is at least as strong, probably stronger than the 8.5 GM rear end. As far as I know they all have 4 pinion gears in the posi, 2 more than the GM.
