I just installed my dash pad and it seems short on drivers side or am I missing something ? There ia about a 2" gap between pad and trim piece!:confused:Also my Covan's inst cluster doesn't reach all the way over to cover gap,can sort of see in behind

That looks pretty big. My OER pad didn't fit all the way across either so I had to pull the pad and paint the area that showed up. My dash also had orange overspray.
Did the 4 screws holes line up above the gauges for the pad?

screw holes line up above cluster but obviously not on side!

Mine doesn't look much better but the hole did line up on the side. I don't even notice it anymore since I painted the orange. Before that I couldn't get in the car without being pissed off.
They have been making these for years, you would think they could adjust the mold for a better fit by now.

That really sucks..I did a search and it looks like you are not the first to experience such a poor fit up with aftermarket dash pads. I know they are like hens teeth but you might need to find an original or refurbish your old one if you still have it.

There are a few originals on ebay right now...Good luck

Well, the separation can most likely be taken care of using a two part epoxy adhesive depending how bad it is and if you have access to both surfaces and the cuts/tears by using a kit like this.

I am sure there are also plastic/vinyl paints out there that can help your fading problem that team members have used..lets see what others have to say...

The best glue I have found to use for the dash pad it Gorilla glue... no joke... you have to peel back the dash pad a little bit and clean the old foam of the back of the pad and the base. Then in order to stretch the pad over the backing I used a pair of panel clamp vice grips, I heated the dash pad to stretch it using a holgen lamp with a rheostat to control the "heat" output from the light.
After it was stretchable I dampened the back of the pad with a rag and put the glue on the base, stretched the pad over the backing and let it sit for a few hours... with the panel clamp you can do about 4" at a time.

Just Dashes for restoration. Pricey at around $400 to $500, but I have not heard complaints about quality and they fit. If I had an original, and knew how bad the urethane repros are when I started this deal, I would have used Just Dashes.

I have an NOS one, and original A-Pillar moldings. I can put my thumb in the crack.

My OER replacement fit like the orginal one, about 1/8" on both sides, I did have to go back to my orginal pillar posts as that repro fit was bad.

I didnt think Just Dashes does 69 dashpads. I know they do 67-68.
Are you sure they do 69 pads??

Just Dashes does not do 69 dash pads the last time I checked.

I asked them about my 69 pad. They said "Nope, no 69's." My original had a bit of a gap there too.

Has anyone tried the "new" OEM style dash from Classic Industies? At $359, it's $100 more than their old model "OEM" dash. If this has resolved the sizing issue, it might definitely be worth the headache of trying to fix the old style.
