Jude;
If you look at the pics, the trim tag clearly shows 4K which last time I checked was for a 396/375. So no clone here.
See more info about this car here

I know it's not a clone & read (or misread) that it was cloned into a 396. Warren Dernoshek's Yenko doc's are bulletproof & it one hell of a great find. Congrats to all involved!!!

That is a great find. It looks more like a Z/28 clone with the stripes, cowl hood, and spoilers.
Also looks like small block emblem on the fender.
Looks like one of those Camaros that got changed around over the years.

The funny thing is, even the original owner may never known it was a Yenko Camaro.

This car and my car were shipped to Burt Chevrolet in a 4 car load of Yenko Super Camaros on 8/21/67 by Howard Sober Inc.

The original owner of my car was not told it was a Yenko Camaro and the 1967 Yenkos had no Yenko emblems or special stripes.

The Yenko/Harrell deal was coming to an end and Harrell was going to sell his own cars in 1968 and Burt Chevrolet became a Harrell dealer. I think Burt Chevrolet may have stopped using the Yenko name.

The original owner of my car was looking at new Camaros and saw the 427 emblems. He thought it was a mistake since the largest engine listed was 396. He asked the salesman if it was really a 427 and the salesman handed him the keys and told him "you tell me what it is".
They went for a quick test ride and he could not believe how fast the car was. It was much quicker then the Shelbys and Corvettes he test drove.

The 1967 Yenko Super Camaros were advertized as AHRA legal 427 drag cars and came with headers, scatter shield bellhousing, traction bars, etc. and a Dick Harrell tune up.

They were stock looking as delivered so must have been a real screaming sleeper/street racer.

Jude, thank you for the accolades, but there were three of us involved with locating & verifying this Harrell/Yenko: Daniel Coffman, Kurt Sonen, and me. None of us could believe what we were seeing and had to react quickly as possible as it had been for sale for over 4 days w/o any action. It was just pure luck that I had Dale Pulde less than 15 minutes away to help us get the car out of the sellers possession quickly!!!! As stated above, check out the link over at Detroit Horsepower for some pics. The first picture of the car is the way it was shown for sale........

It really was being sold as a 396 clone and the seller did not find out about the 4K code until the original buyer had paid for it and Dale was there to pick the car up. He said to Dale: "your friend is getting a real 396 car and not a clone." Dale said he didn't know anything about the car and that he was just picking it up for his friend......... What is that saying...Just smile and wave boys, just smile and wave!!!!!...........RatPack..................

Best find of 2008 IMO:thumbsup: and I think it's great that guys can work together to help each other out. Kurt was a big help to me when I was trying to confirm my Yenko #616128 (on the list as #616828.):beers:
Yes, I originally read about it on Detroit HP & thought the guys on this site would like to see it also. I'll bet the seller is upset with himself for not doing his homework...that is, if he knows:boring:

Thanks, but I cannot take all of the credit for this. It was the entire group starting with Daniel and Kurt that got the ball rolling, then it all came together with Dale, Tim, and Warren in getting it out of the sellers possession. So all persons involved deserve the same accolades. Thanks to all of them, I had a piece of history sitting at my house for a few weeks until Mike picked it up. I am glad for him that the original buyer backed out after the car was delievered to me. Maybe we'll see it again next year, but in Butternut Yellow and with a 427!!!!! :hurray:..............RatPack............
