View Full Version : Test drive BMW Alpina B7 or work on Camaro?
Melrose RS Sep 18th, 08, 09:22 PM I am a ride-and-drive junky. I am signed up to drive the new BMW Alpina B7, 500 hp supercharged, MSRP $115k on saturday the 27th on the street. Only problem is, I have to wake up early and drive 2 hours to get there and will have just returned from a vacation Friday eve. Alternatively, I should probably stay home and get my heater core back in the Camaro before it gets really cold out.
What would you do?
cluxford Sep 19th, 08, 12:48 AM If it is on the track and you're allowed to give it hell...then drive the beamer...
if it is just a sedate road test, stay at home
Everett#2390 Sep 19th, 08, 05:50 AM Do both. It only takes a couple of hours to exchange a heater core, providing you have the same physical size.
Nice features about a BMW, no creaks/croans, good body fit, excellent Quality Assurance, too many bells & whistles, and stupid iDrive (IdiotDrive).

The drive is on the street, but no salesman involved. They just give you the car and a map and you do about 10 miles.
You get to drive other cars as well- M3, 335i. I did this last year and drove the 335 pretty hard- at my own risk, of course.
I need more inputs to the poll. Vote now!

Melrose RS Sep 20th, 08, 07:19 PM It's actually next Saturday. Flying to Orlando tomorrow morning. Won't be on TC for the week.
Arch Stanton Sep 21st, 08, 02:28 PM Go drive the BMW.
How many times can anybody say they flogged one around for S's & giggles?
Camaro can wait a little.
DOUG G Sep 21st, 08, 02:42 PM If the dealership is that "free" with their "test drives" .....drive it like you stole it !!!
Melrose RS Sep 26th, 08, 04:27 PM Well, I'm back from Orlando and the weather in Boston is sucking hard. Rain and wind.
Thanks all for your poll responses.
The poll was 16 to 8 in favor of driving the BMW but with the weather like it is, I've decided to stay in the garage with the CAMARO tomorrow.
This link is for the driving event. If it makes it to your area I highly suggest you attend. It's a really good time with no salesman pressure.
