Im currently thinking of changing to the new TURBOHD but i dont see it being worth 150.00 to upgrade. Any other alternatives that i can try so i can have HD in my house (since i bought a new lcd hdtv)?

Im not sure about all the costs now with upgrading to turboHD. I have had the dish network HD receiver for a while now. (over a year) And i did notice that everything recently went to TurboHD meaning we get a whole lot more channels in HD now..a lot actually. Its awesome. Once you watch stuff in HD you will be spoiled forever. Anything non HD sucks.

I paid $300 for the HD receiver and then its just $5/month receiver fee like all the other receivers. Cant remember what the additional monthly charge is for the HD package.

I assume the $150 you are talking about is the one time charge to get the HD receiver..and i promise you its well worth it. To have an LCD TV and not have HD is kinda like having a first gen Camaro with no wheels.

I just upgraded my system to the TurboHD for a one time fee of $50, free install ( required and additional 20" dish) for $10.00 more a month. I went with the Platinum package...no DVR charge, free locals and second room off same unit free. My monthly charge went up $6.00 over the old package I had.

The $50.00 fee was for the DVR receiver unit and its free upgrade.

Yeah i got the HD DVR when they first came out and they were real pricey..hence me having to fork over $300. And as you know thats not owning it...its still Dish Networks property. But i had just bought a 40" LCD and there was no way i wasnt gonna have HD. $50 is much more reasonable.

The dish DVR I think is much better than the Direct TV unit. I pay $85.00 per month with insurance, one box, HD DVR, showtime and The America's top package they off (not the everything pack).

Dish can be a pain to deal with no and then, just call back and if you get an overseas rep just ask to get transfered to an other or tell them you can't understand them and need to speak to a person in an American call center. I have done this before. I just changed packages a few weeks back and had a very good customer service experiance and they helped out very much to lower my bill and get me what I needed. I basicly droped HBO, skin-a-max and stars since we just did not watch them much. Showtime stayed because we watch the Tudors and some other shows there. My HD package only dropped by the pay channels and she knocked of another $10.00 for some HD chaneels I never watch. My bill went down about $45.00!! per month.

I have had direct TV and the customer service was never very good and the billing seemed to get screwed up all the time and I nver changed or bought pay-per views or anything else? It was a pain to get things taken care of. I had an employee discount that would get taken off every other month or so and if it went un-noticed they would not credit months it was given.
