OK, I normally hate these contests but this is a pretty good one. Our buddy races drag radial class with his Firebird, every year there is a race in a small town locally where they block off the street and set up a 100' strip, he entered the burnout contest and decided to win it (if you knew him you would know why, he's freaking nuts) :D .
The car run's 8.0's on drag radials by the way, you can hear one blow up at the end.... just nuts.

He's pretty nuts in general, but a nice guy. The car is a stock location leaf spring suspension (split monos and caltracs) and pretty basic, but the motor makes insane power for the chassis, he got his name 'wildman' from some of his passes, the car looks downright scary at times but he can drive.

Nitrous systems have a purge valve to clear the lines before you make a pass.That is the stream of what looks like steam shooting up from the rear of the hood.

Me too! I would be completely upset if I did that. I hate to even watch burnout contests, but he showed me the video at the track on his laptop and I decided it was definitely worthy of sharing, I watched it several times. Something about a 632 spinning like a smallblock gets me everytime :D .
His car is a pretty nice car and he beats it repeatedly, it's a race car and he definitely has fun with it.
Here's him running an 8.13 with it, I'm pretty sure he has gone 8.0's. Thats with leaf springs and a 275 M/T drag radial, pretty impressive.

That is very impressive! A 275 is a tiny tire for that kind of power. I would have never guessed 632ci from the sound, he wound it up tight. He has to be boderline nuts to run that fast on that small of a tire 8.13 @ 173mph.

Yes definitely borderline at minimum. He was telling me the car is a new adventure everytime he runs it, he never knows exactly what it will do, depending on traction etc. If it hooks it's good it seems, but it's sketchy when and where it won't hook. I'm thinking it's a bit too hairy for me, chalk it right up there with the nitro Harleys....I'll just watch thank you :D
