I am in the process of installing a new 383 in my 67 convertible and I am having trouble with the headers. They are a new set of Hedman Hedders. They clear the gear box great but they hit the shifter linkage. It is the original powerglide and linkage. The header strikes on the pivot that bolts to the frame. Has anyone else had this problem? Also, has anyone had any experience with the exhaust on a convertible? I plan on taking it to an exhaust shop but I am curious of what to expect.

Try reading through this post and also do a search of past posts on header fit. Sometimes they is a B1t<h to install.

Ther are some great post on this subject. the bottom line is, to install headers in a 67 you need to install the right one from the top and the left one from the bottom with the steering box removed. then install the steering box after the header install.

The headers installed with no problem on both sides. The left header cleared the gear box fine when installed from the bottom. Installing was not a problem. The only problem I am having is the clearance on the shifter linkage on the frame. I am thinking about loosening the trans mount and moving the transmission over to see if this might give me some more room.
