OK, this may be a dumb question, but do you have to drill holes for the deluxe door pulls if you had a standard interior? (into the door sheet metal) I covered the interior of the door with sound proofing, so don't remember seeing any holes. Help!?

Yes, just drill the holes for the screws

If you are trying to install deluxe door pulls on a standard interior door panel I do not believe the holes are there for that. To confirm this I would locally remove the sound proofing. Not only are you going to need the holes in the inner door panel skin for the door pull but you may also need a method to secure the door pull screws. The thickness of the inner panel skin is not thick enough to tap into. You may need nutserts or weldnut on the inside of the inner door skin or your door pull will rip off or loosen with time.

I've pulled apart enough factory deluxe interiors to know that GM just drilled the holes and screwed those large sheet metal screws into the sheet metal without anything special. The holes do get elogated after many years, but it is surprising how well they hold.

I had to drill my doors for the door pulls. There are special screws for these due to the size of the screw head. I drilled my holes to little and stripped the phillips head out. So be careful installing the screws. You can find the right size screws at Home Depot but the head is to big for the pull handle screw hole. I grinded down the screw head.
