after trying repeatedly to fix my front tire scrubbing problem i am at my wits end...some of you may have read my post about my front tires hitting my fender after i installed CPP front disk brakes with 2" drop spindles along with Moroso Trick Front Springs. at first i thought maybe it was the springs so i bought some stock style springs, well it didnt change anything, so after installing Mr. Gasket coil spring boosters on the top and the bottom of each spring and a bigger ADDCO sway bar it doesnt rub with just me in it but once my wife or anyone else for that matter gets in it the tires rub again. so i have a new idea, ditch the 2" drop spindles for the stock style spindles that CPP makes. my tires are not any taller than what would have orginally came with the car so this is what i come up with...anyone?

I hear that the drop spindles may cause this sort of problem and it sounds like a good idea.

Dropping the fender closer to the tire, whether using spindles or lowering springs and a larger diameter tire, will bring the tire closer to the fender edge.
You could use a narrower tire or a wheel with more backspacing, anything to pull the tire into the fenderwell.

i called Coys and they were very helpful. they told me that if i ordered a 8" wheel for the fron then they would switch it out for a 7" wheel which could potentionaly fix the problem. and if they are already 7" wheels than they could grind them down to a different backspacing. they said that the 2" drop spindles should not cause a rub and that my situation was highly unusual. any more input?

rubbing in various places will happen if the tires are too big, or if the wheel offset isn't correct.

wheel width and diameter don't really play a part here.
Ride ht (not to extremes) doesn't either.
Correctly sized tires on wheels with the right offset will fit Lock to lock and bumpstop to bumpstop.

well i am running 4.25BS and 26x8R18 MT S/Rs are they too tall?

and i am rubbing while going streight and hitting bumps in the road and its alot worse while turning, i have cut in the side wall of one tire doing this

also, i just made a few measurements
from the outside of the fender to the face of the tire is 1"
from the ground to the top of the outside fender is 25 3/4"
from the top of my tire to the top of the fender is 3 3/4"
its the same on both sides

Hi Scott.
Can ya add the year of your car to your sig?
Mine is a 68. It's relatively low, 12" from the center of the hub to the fenderlip.
Tires are 225/50/16 (23 1/2" tall) on 7" rims with 4" backspace (same offset as 8" w/ 4 1/2" BS)
They fit fine, never ever rub anything.
I do have the guldstrand mod, and as I mentioned on another post, that does make a measurable difference by cambering the tire in when the suspension compresses.

Did you cut any coils off of your trick springs? I have the CPP 2" drop spindles with the original sbc springs and my tire on the pass. side rubs with a passenger. I have 15x3.5 rims and 165/15 front tires. Thank you
