Does anyone know of a company that makes an OEM type tach for use with an HEI distributor? I would welcome any leads.Thanks!

u mean the GM HEI
I have used many types of tachs connected to HEI, (testing, tuning etc, ) and all work
The tach connects into the connecter box on the side of the hei
looking at the box on the hei the closest on the left.

I'd also like a definate answer to that question. I'm planning to add a repro stock type tach to my 67 but want to make sure it will work with the HEI distributor I'm using before I spend the bucks on the tach. I'm sure people here have tried this so what's the scoop ?

I don't know if there is a "definitive" answer... Repro Tachs are made by OER. They are what they are, and they're all the same no matter who you buy them from. They do have more modern electronics than the originals (of course)

If they tach doesn't work, there are a variety of filters that can be made or bought to get it to work.
