I have a 68 manual drum brake system and after driving the car for a couple of weeks, all of a sudden the brake pedal went all the way to the floor but the car would still come to a stop.

I started looking into what might be going on, I found that the reseavior closest to the firewall was empty. The front one has a fine level of fluid in it. This has the thicker line come out of the MC going into the portioning valve.

I want to make sure that this means the rear brakes no longer have break fluid?
I have a leak that I need to find.
Thanks
Ray

Your car could stop on the fronts only. Find the leak...

Hopefully you aren’t driving the car! We would like to have you around a lil longer if you know what I mean!

What is the status on the car? Has it been sitting? Anyway I would suggest pulling all four drums off and check for wetness and go from there.

I had driven the car for two days like it is. It has the rear on jack stands and looks dry. The last time I drove it was Thursday of last week.

I need to know that I am looking at the correct brake line for the which one is empty.
Thanks

Pull the drums and "peel" back the boots on the wheel cylinders to see if fluid runs out. If this car sits alot it may not have leaked all the fluid this week and may not look wet.

You have a leak somewhere. I can't remember if the rear reservoir is for the back brakes or not. But, if you follow the lines, you should be able to tell. Wheel cylinders are usually the first place to look.
