I have a 76 camaro and I am looking for a 350 to drop in it. My question is what years will work without making alot of altercations? I would like to use all the factory accessories and the original motor mounts and exhaust. Also the original transmission. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

All small blocks from a 283-400 will fit, as they are all dimensionally the same. The only time you have to make modifications is when you get up into the late model fuel injected motors, reverse coolant flow motors (LT1) or early model motors with short water pumps (283-327). If you buy a used 350 motor, make sure it's carbuerated and it'll all bolt up (exhaust manifolds, trans, existing brackets etc.).

The computers control emissions and fuel injection/carbs. The long block (heads/block) will work on some applications with your existing parts. However, later model centerbolt valve cover heads will not accept your standard intake/carbs. Are you planning on buying a used engine or a remanufactured engine? If your buying from a business, just tell them your year car and they'll hook you up. If your looking for a used engine in the paper or from craigslist, etc., then make sure it's got a non-computer controlled carb on it and preferably includes the brackets, water pump, etc.
