Camaros-n-Chevelles Oct 13th, 08, 04:53 PM I have used American Auto Wire on my 68 Camaro, 64 Malibu SS and 55 Chevy Nomad.
Nothing but great things to say about their products and customer service.

Ghostbuster Oct 13th, 08, 06:08 PM I replaced all the wiring in my '68'vert with AAW and was very happy.
Looks and fits just like the old stuff.
A little pricey, but well worth it.
AAW is good stuff, just shop around for a sale at Jegs or coupons for Ricks.
Codi Oct 13th, 08, 06:27 PM We used AAW exclusively at the hot rod shop I used to hang at. Did Painless once and it was good, but we found AAW to be better. Almost all we did were custom fits.
Rocketrod Oct 13th, 08, 06:54 PM I am currently installing the AAW Classic Update series harness, the quality is top notch and I would highly recommend it. Do you have any more specific questions?

OK, but remember - you asked. I bought the two wiring harnesses for the firewall forward for a 67 coupe. For the most part I was happy, but there were a few wires that did not have as much slack as my factory originals. The wires going to the starter were real tight, especially if you follow the diagram in the AIM. The rubber boots on the parking lights/turn signals completely disintegrated in less than a year's time and repeated e-mails to the company about that situation have gone unanswered. With all of the raves others have given AAW, I was surprised and disappointed. I wish I kept my orignal boots because even after 40 years they were soft and pliable with no cracks. I also bought the wiring harness for a console with no gauges and I have no complaints about that. I give them a B, maybe a B+ for product and an F for customer service.
Eric Kammerer Oct 14th, 08, 04:40 AM The AAW kit for front to rear is their "classic update" harness. If you search here for those terms, you'll see a number of threads from guys who have used it, including me. I think I posted one on the time it takes to do the install, and if you use the non-stick vinyl wrapping tape, you can make it look OE. Very high quality harness, nice flexibility in terms of upgrades (power windows, seats, engine control module, electirc fan, etc.), and great tech support if you need it.
Eric Kammerer Oct 14th, 08, 04:42 AM See my post in your other thread on this... :)
67conv.cam Oct 14th, 08, 05:48 AM thanks guys... i liked what i saw when i was at cruising the coast ...B&B motorsports had a classic update complete kit for$539.00... we talked on phone monday ..he says he has had no problems with the harnesses he installs...just wanted some unbiased opinions...
again i apreciate the help

Eric Kammerer Oct 14th, 08, 07:59 AM You may want to shop around, and watch for sales. You can usually get the Classic Update for around $450 shipped. Check ebay, check with musclerodz.com and Prodigy Customs (and/or GPSuperstore), and you can usually save some cash.
Musclerodz Oct 14th, 08, 10:17 AM I am a sponsor here and sell them everyday for $485. $539 is AAW retail. I have installed quite a few of the Update kits and the Highway 22 kits. The ONLY thing is if you are running factory A/C you will need a factory A/C harness as well if you want it replaced. The Update kit only provides a power source pigtail. If you are running aftermarket a/c, you just tie it directly in.
67conv.cam Oct 15th, 08, 05:49 AM hi there mike,

Mark - did you try calling them? I'm not saying it is OK for them to not reply to their e-mails but maybe something went wrong and they didn't get them.
I'm just surprised b/c I've had to call them a couple of times and they have been awesome everytime I called.
I do agree that the starter wires seemed a bit tight but my old harness was so hacked up that I had nothing to compare it to.
