View Full Version : 69 clock installation
kschurch Oct 14th, 08, 12:33 AM Hey Team,
I'm thinking of installing a clock in the blank space on my 69 camaro standard. The car has deluxe interior with orange ht and the cherry wood grain, but there is no clock and I think it would look great.
Does anyone have experience with this addition? Is it difficult? Does that blank section come out or does it have to be cut?
Please advise.
Thanks!!
Kschurch

you have to cut it out .
drdave69 Oct 14th, 08, 07:41 AM You will also need the wiring for the clock and I believe it is reproduced.
By the way, that is a great color combo. I had a Z/28 with this combo except mine had a black top and stripes.

Fred Ficarra Oct 14th, 08, 09:37 AM Too bad yours didn't come with a clock like mine did. I took it out and replaced it with a voltmeter. Perfect fit. Took no time. (sorry about the pun) The original clock is in a safe place, just for old times sake.:D

Thanks for the info Mark. I'll think it over before I tackle it.

Thanks Dave,
This is the 3rd 69 I've had in my life and I love the color combo as well. It really jumps out. The cool thing is that the car is a "loaded" standard. It's basically an RS without the hidden headlight package. I bought it from the origanal owner who ordered from the Chevrolet dealer here in boise. She added a bunch of stuff not normally found on standards.
Where did that Z/28 of yours go?
no69x-44 Oct 14th, 08, 06:40 PM As mentioned above, you will need the clock harness. You get that at M&H Wire Harness (http://www.wiringharness.com) or American Auto Wire (http://www.americanautowire.com). Both are great companies to work with. You will also need the clock bezel and lens.
But that is the easy part. Getting the mounting hardware is the tricky part. Heartbeat City now sells the top pieces which are the screw eyelets that clip on the back of the dash. But the post screws that clip onto the sides for the dash clock holder that clock gets screwed into are not easy to come by and they aren't repro'd

ccmblack Oct 14th, 08, 09:46 PM Can you get the clock out without pulling the entire dash?
click Oct 15th, 08, 09:43 AM yes
kencar69 Oct 15th, 08, 11:10 AM They reproduce the clock and the needed wiring. Three or four years ago, they did not make the two clips you see at the top of Ramairdaves pic. Do they make them now? You can still install the clock but its a little loose when you try to adjust the time.
drdave69 Oct 15th, 08, 11:40 AM My orange Z/28 ended up in NJ.
