If your bushings are ok maybe somewhat worn, how much room will you have when you place a tremec tranny. I put mine in yesterday and it's damm tight. Classic said 1/2 in. is that right? . Also in a previous post I griped about the car not sitting straight after installing new 1" drop eibach springs. I noticed yesterday that the wheels measure a diff. distance from the center of each hub to the fender lip. In other words one tire and wheel hangs down more. WHAT WOULD CAUSE THIS?? The car is up on jackstands so the spring placement is not a factor. This has got to be the reason it sits cocked on the ground..

If the car is up on stands and the measurements are not the same, then it's either the body mount bushings or the body mounts are rusted through and the body has dropped. I had this happen on a 79 Chevy truck. Anything is possible on a 40 year old car.

While the car is in the air and if we are talking about the front giving you the different measurement. Then take a tie down strap and rap it around the spring with the taller measurement, and you will be able to turn the spring to set it in the grove. This will work if its not already in the grove.

It's going to be nearly impossible to get a leaf spring car perfect. I have coil overs on all four corners and it's not that easy. Let the springs settle and then worry about it. Their are no body bushings in the back of these cars. Front springs being worn can affect rear ride height. If you are getting a difference with it on jack stands, preferably under the axle it's the rear springs.

If it is the rear giving you the different measurement (make sure) because just like Vegas69 said the front can change the ride height in the rear and vice versa. You can shim the rear if needed.

Guys, this just happened when I changed the springs and upper ball joints. It was fine and noise free with the stock springs, just a little high in front. I'll replace the bushings, but with a further look they seem ok. I thought I might have bent something jacking it up. maybe if I get it on a lift I will see something..Fred my car looks very close to yours. Your mufflers are more shiney. ;-) Also any info on the tremec space under the tunnel. like I said, classic said 1/2 inch. that seems pretty tight to me..

Skeeter,,would that hold the back up too? both front and back are off by 1 inch. Then why is one hanging down lower? It can't be the springs if that's the case, right??
