Is there any specific spots that I shoild look out for on 79 rally sports? Im going to look at one on friday. From the adds it looks like it just needs minor tlc to get it back to good but thats the sellers words and pictures so thats not necessarily true (hopefully though).
Thanks
PS does $3500 seem fair for a 350 four speed rally sport in need of a paint job?

check the rear valance under the bumper. they usually rust where the tail pipes exit. then the usual places. lower rear portion of the front fenders, rockers, and rear quarters. if you can get under it check the floor pans. depending on how complete the car is, i think 3500 sounds fair if everything is there and in decent condition. but, if all the seals are dry rotted, the dash cracked, seats torn, windows scratched up, a/c components missing, and just looks worn out, i'd say it's too much. just my opinion....

Check the frame in the back around the rear wheels, in this part of the country they rust out fast.
It hard to even find one that hasnt been filled with bondo and undercoated and that was 12 yrs ago.

Look at the rear floors where the front of the leaf mounts. This is the torque box area. They rot bad there. If it's real bad, the spring pushes up through the floor.
