I just got my hands on a nice clean 68 327 base car. The previous owner started an RS conversion and never finished.

I want to finish this headlight project. The light doors are in.

Is there any resource (web or print) that anyone knows of that illustrates in detail all of the needed parts and pieces for this. Seems pretty complicated, especially since I'm starting with a non-RS. I think a few things need to be relocated.

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Sounds like the grille components are installed. You would need an RS hard parts kit. It does include the headlight capsules, which you already have, but also has the hard to find components- vacuum tank, lines, actuators, actuator brackets,etc.etc., as well as instructions.

If you do not already have one. I suggest you obtain the assembly instruction manual, or AIM. it details how the car is assembled. it can be hard to follow sometimes, but is very useful reference.
You may also consider converting to electric motors rather than the vacuum system. (67's used electric systems) This might be desirable especially if you do not care about an original system and do not want to drill holes in the inner fenders for the actuator arms. Electric systems can be made using Firebird motors, ( I can help) or purchased from Retroelectric, or DSE, or purchase a '67 system.

parts supplier catalogs sometimes show a sales version of the exploded view of the RS for you to get an idea.

Here is a modified for '68 version of the drawing we have in our tech reference section.

Here's the tech reference article for '69 routing...

You might need to swap the red and green at the vacuum relay.

If you dont care about originality go to www.retro-electro.com and check out the systems. I installed them in my 67 and am super happy. You bypass all the original components but need the limit switches or some kind of stoping block just for stoping reference.
