My trim tag has white paint covering the entire tag. It is rare that I come accross antoher camaro with the same paint on the tag. I assume that this is because many have repainted firewalls. I attached a link to a picture below from a thread currently under the "what is it worth" section titled 67rs since I do not have a picture of MY tag on this computer.

Were all tags painted white like this from the factory?
Was it sprayed OVER the black paint from the firewall?

Alot (not all) of 67s from Norwood have white paint on the cowl tag. Because the white is still visible over the firewall blackout it means it was done sometime after (or at the end) the car tub left the Fisher paint booth. There does not seem to be a pattern to which cars have the white paint and which don't.

I have several loose 67 tags and some have white paint on the backside meaning it was done prior to installation. I have also seen very early 68 tags painted white.

None for sale or ever advertised anywhere.
Turns out 2 of the 68s are white: body # 465 08C C2 paint, body #10305 09C DD paint
[N310138]. Only the early 68 has paint on the back; none of the 67s [04A, 05A] do.
Most of these came from Camaros in junkyards 25-30 years ago. Hard to believe one would find a 67 Z/28 or 69 Yenko in a yard but they were there.

Sorry... only the 68's had white on the back?
I am asking because when I finish my firewall I want to know if I should just mask of the trim tag and paint the firewall or if I should paint it all black and spray the tag. My car was repainted in the 80's and they went a bit low with the overspray so there is some overtop of the white. From memory, I think there is a little overspray around it... I'll have to check tonight.
Order for a 67:
1. Firewall - black
2. Paint - body color with overspray over firewall
3: White Paint over trim tag
Is this right?
