hi guys.......any thoughts on why i dont have dash lights? could it be the headlight switch?
im pretty sure its not the fuse but need to look into a bit more tommorow. i replaced the light switch last year after what... 28 years...with an after market one and it never did feel right. the dimmer part of the old light switch fried [ the reostat?] but i dont remember the dash lights going out then???
the dash lights were working fine and then nothing.....all the rest of the lights....headlights etc work fine.
i have a 69 camaro RS/SS
your thoughts......

I know 7 and 8 dash grounds but have a 9 that someone wants me to work on so your question helped me also.

The following is from JohnZ at CRG:

"Make sure the stamped sheet metal grounding strap is still in one piece and is in place - it attaches to the wiper switch and the light switch, has a "leg" that attaches to the lower I.P. reinforcement, and has a wire pigtail on it that also attaches with a separate screw to the lower I.P. reinforcement along with the I.P. harness ground wire. If that strap isn't in place, the wipers won't work, nor will the instrument lights."

Dash lights and tailights are on the same circuit. The absence of dash lights is the warning the tailights are not operating. Just info for another place to look.
