Very soon, the Camaro will finally be going back to the body shop for paint job, interior work, etc.

Here is my current info:

327 with (new) World S/R heads, 1.94/1.50/67cc

cam: .222 dur @ .050, adv dur 265, .436 lift, 112 lc

(cam installed early 80s before 20 year storage, these are the specs the engine shop gave me, they called it a corvette cam...similar to 350 hp 327 "151" or modern "476" version??)

TH-350 transmission with shift improver, 2000 stall, Eaton Posi

Petronix Ignitor conversion & coil

Edelbrock Performer intake, Carter squarebore carb (Quadrajet in future)

Dynomax headers, x-pipe, Dynomax turbo mufflers

BFG radial TA 235 60/15 tires all around, 26.1" tall.

The car will mainly be a local weekend cruiser, limited highway use, 60-65 mph max.

I want to keep highway rpms below 3000, so my gear selection is 3.08 or 3.36. I don't want gearing that works against the rest of my combo. Some sources have said use something closer to the 300 hp 327 cam, but I would prefer to keep the cam I listed if I can.

I welcome any advice or ideas on the gear selection!!

I ran a combo very close to yours 327 .060 hump heads 274HO6 Crane cam 218 @ .050 106LSA TH350 2000 stall same ignition Qjet and factory cast iron intake and exhaust manifolds with 25.4" tall tires.Put an Eaton posi in it with the factory 3.08 gears.Car ran real good 2600 at 60 to 65.I would probably go with the 3.36 gears unless you already have 3.08s.Keep the cam you have.

Mine is a 350/350..daily around town /highway
I run a 308 diff found a good compromise...used to have a 2000/2500 torque converter
but at highway speed 60/65/mph and drop the boot a little or hill still used to slip a little
Around town 30/35 mph about 1300 rpm, slight acceration or hill and slipped like hell
So I got a std low rpm cnverter ...real low...1200 rpm
mileage increase dramatically , and wasnt quite as quick with the boot right in, but still very respectable to show off with.

You can't go wrong with 3.55 gears, these are ideal for street and highway driving!.....I'm currently running these gears in my 327 coupe. which is built to L79 specs.

Use the 3.31/3.36 gears!

Our old cars are made for them!

Thanks to everyone for the good input. I think I'll be happy with the "not too far past old school" mods so far....
