Re-check the tag info, isn't quite right.

From the info given, it decodes as:

Decode for body number: 053353

12B = Built the Second week of December.
67-12637 = Custom Interior Coupe.
NOR = Built in Norwood Ohio.
732 = Custom Bright Blue Bucket Seats.
Z = (A50) Strato Bucket Seats (without headrests).
paint code incomplete
R = Interior paint is Bright Blue
Options:
2E = (C60) Air Conditioner
2M = (M35) Powerglide Transmission
2C = ?
2R = (U80) Speaker rear
3S = (Z23) Interior Decor group
3D = (U29) Courtesy Lamp
3L = (Z22) Rally Sport Package
4F = (D33) Mirror Remote Control
4P = (L48) SS 350
5B = (V32) Rear Large Bumper Guards
5Y = (A39) Belts All Deluxe

Engine isn't the original.

V=Flint 02=Feb. 04=4th day TKK Suffix = 1980 350 conv. cab, a/t L LS9 165 4 K-10 & 1500

Vin will not tell you what engine came in the car other then V8 12437 or 6cyl 12337

Ugh. Sorry, but I don't recommend that site. There's errors that have never been corrected.

Sorry to hear that it is not the original motor. I remember from a previous post that you were expecting it to be a numbers matching car.
http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=143924
Either way, looks like a great car and according to the tag it was a real RS/SS350 as you were told. Having a non#ed engine is just a good excuse to build a race car. You might still have many other correct parts... such as the 12 bolt rear etc.!

I dont think i would ever go race car route with that car.

No I am not going to go race car but yes was expecting numbers matching but was not told it was either anyways It does have the 12 bolt rear end :) and I am looking for the trans numbers! I looked at the plate again it is 2C on it and the paint code is 53353?? I will take a picture and try and list it! But no I will not being making this a race car the interior and the fact it is a real rs/ss with factory air I willbe putting it back close minus engine to stock soon! thanks for all of your help

Uhmmmm :noway:

Decode for engine:
V0204TKK
V = Flint
02 = Feb. (1978)
04 = 4th
TKK = 1978 RPO-LS9/Vin code 'L' 350/165HP w/A.I.R.

C8F4049Z
C = Chevrolet Truck
8 = 1978 Model year
F = Flint Truck final assembly
4049_ _ = sequential VIN for registration - a 6 digit number, no letters

So the block is from a 1/2 or 3/4 ton truck assembled at Flint in 1978 ...

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess the 2C is actually a 2G which would indicate a console as it's a PG tranny. Makes sense to me.

Good call on keeping it stock. Best of luck with your build. This site is a great resource!
