Have a '69 Camaro and am trying to find a Covercraft Dustop car cover WITH mirror pockets installed.

I've seen several vendors who are advertising:
Cover: 1969 CHEVROLET CAMARO Coupe (2 Door)/No Mirror Pockets/ Size G3 No Mirror Pockets - Dustop™

The vendors I found all indicate that they ship the cover to you, you mark the mirror locations on the cover (how accurate can that be?), and then ship it off to Covercraft who sews in mirror pockets. :(

I bought a cover for my Vette and viola, it had mirror pockets.

Didn't all '69 Camaros come with (at least) a driver's side mirror? What am I missing?

Thanks in advance.
Chris

I ordered a Wolf cover, and it came with 2 pockets. I only have a driver side, but it fits fine. Also, it was cut for a rear spoiler car.

You'll have to find someone that offers custom sewn covers using the material you want. Everyone sells the ready-fit covers these days. I wanted mirror pockets on my new covers but opted for the covers without for the cost savings. I'm really glad I did now, the cover never gets hung up on the mirror now when taking it off...

I was very happy dealing with these guys ... http://www.autoaccessconnect.com/carcovers.html

Check this thread out, you may want to go with the Wolf to get the custom cover... http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=138981&highlight=car+cover

I have the Wolf cover (from Summit) and it has the mirror pockets. I believe that the Wolf covers are made by the same company as the dustop covers.

Does your car have the rear spoiler? If so, do you know if the cover was cut with the rear spoiler in mind?

I'm finding Dustop (either Covercraft or Wolf - same material) covers (or at least descriptions) with either mirror pockets OR cut for a '69 with rear spoiler.. NOT both.

DjD - was your cover cut for a rear-spoiler car?

Hey Chris - I have to say no it's not specifically cut for a spoiler. In my looking around I didn't find first gen covers made w/spoiler or wo/spoiler like the 2nd gens are. I don't have the car and cover here right now to say but don't see a spoiler being a problem with the ready-fit.

I also found a lot of companys use the Kimberly Clark materials such as "Dustop" and the various Block-It Fabric's. My guess is the ready-fits are all sewn by the same company and labled for wholesale and retail sales.

Mine was specifically made for a spoiler. You can see in the way the side panel is cut.

Mine is a CoverKing Stormproof. I got it off Ebay through their outlet store http://pics.ebaystatic.com/aw/pics/s.gifcoverking_outlet (http://myworld.ebay.com/ebaymotors/coverking_outlet/) for a buy it now of $9.99 plus $20 shipping. The only blemish I've been able to find on it is that some of the screen printing had fallen off but the cover itself was perfect. It says it's for a 69' with mirrors (two mirror pockets) and fits great on my 67'. It retails for around $270-$280 at most places I've seen so it was a great buy. Here's the info for the one I got (actual ebay auction).. They've got a lot of stuff on their now but I didn't look through them all, check them out as you may find another good deal on there.

The Ultimate Car Cover Material

http://www.coverking.com/carcover_cls.jpg
The culmination of over 15 years of development, Stormproof™ material is designed by Coverking and made by one of the world's leading textile mills. It is the most waterproof yet breathable car cover material available. Stormproof™ car cover material exhibits outstanding sun and U.V. resistance, able to last for years in Arizona sun without fading. The micro-fiber base material is soft to the touch and won't scratch a car's paint - yet is rolls up into a very compact package for easy storage. Stormproof™ is available in different colors.
http://www.coverking.com/c52tonecarcover.jpg
Stormproof™ is unique in the field of Custom Car Cover materials in that it is Untreated, Uncoated, and Unprocessed. Through Coverking's advanced textile engineering, Stormproof™ accomplishes the needs of a premium Car Cover material without the coatings which can easily wear off, the treatments which fade over time, and the processing which can be undone the first time it is exposed to water. Speak to somebody who has owned other "premium" Car Cover materials and you'll hear how the other Car Cover fabrics work as advertised for the first few months, but then degrade in their water resistance - the problem is that the treatments and coatings can wear off, scratch off, or simply wash off.

Stormproof™ is immune to this, because it is inherently water resistant. It has no coating, so it is very breathable. And the fibers have been designed to reflect UV rays, and be immune to the color fading caused by the harsh sun. http://www.coverking.com/300c-carcover.jpg

Stormproof™ is the only Car Cover material we can suggest for any climate or car cover need - it excels in every area except protection from dings and hail (in which case we recommend Coverbond4). Stormproof™ will last for years, and compliment your vehicle with the exciting colors and two tone designs it is offered in.

Coverking uses the fewest seams to produce a perfect, custom fit without the "patchwork" look created by sewing small pieces together. Although it costs more, Coverking's designs result in superior fit, looks, and less chance of seams failing or leaking

Custom Car Covers by Coverking protect a vehicle from hazards while providing a clean, custom fit.

Coverking spares no expense in creating a custom car cover which fits perfectly, and with the fewest seams possible. Coverking developed the widest selection of custom car cover materials, choosing to engineer it’s own fabrics instead of relying on “off the shelf” materials. Coverking has also pioneered the use of car cover fabrics in colors, two tone designs and reflective treatment. Coverking Custom Car Covers are made using advanced CAD/CAM design and production systems. Coverking is TS16949 certified and QS-9000 quality certified. Customers are thrilled with Coverking Custom Car Covers. Even Monsoons can't get through a Coverking Custom Car Cover parked on an Island in the Indian Ocean!

Why Choose Coverking Custom Car Covers?
Coverking set out to create a superior Custom Car Covers in fit, material properties, looks, strength and features. Coverking Custom Car Covers protect the vehicle interior from fading, block prying eyes from seeing what’s inside the car (and acting as a theft deterrent) and help the environment by reducing the need for car washing. Some Coverking materials can prevent minor nicks, scratches and even small hail damage. Coverking Custom Car Covers are a great way to protect vehicles parked at airports or near industrial sites. In very sunny climates, they keep the interior cooler and in winter they keep the snow off the glass. And because Coverking insists on using the fewest seams, Coverking Custom Car Covers look great!
Pattern Fit and Designhttp://www.coverking.com/cc_construction_small.gif
Car Covers use a lot of material, - 30 yards is common for most vehicles. In an effort to save material, some car cover manufactures use patterns which are “chopped up” into small pieces, and sewn together creating a patchwork effect. This method saves more than 20% of total material use, but results in car covers which look like patchwork quilts – seams everywhere. By having extra seams, risks of seam failures and seam leakage increase. In addition, the car cover looses it’s custom look and resembles a universal cover. Coverking has never compromised the function or fit of it’s Custom Car Covers to save a few yards of fabric.
Materials
The qualities that make a Car Cover suitable for use depend largely on the fabric properties. Coverking designs it’s own fabrics, and has the world’s leading textile mills handle the manufacturing. Because Coverking has a team of engineers to specify exact material composition and construction, we are able to meet the most stringent material test requirements set out by the world’s leading vehicle manufacturers. Coverking does not use “off-the-shelf” fabrics, which are ill-suited to car cover needs. All Coverking outdoor Custom Car Cover materials are breathable – this allows moisture which istrapped under the car to escape through the cover, preventing a “greenhouse” condition of condensation which may result in rust damage. Coverking pioneered colored materials and two tone designs for outdoor use. Unlike other car covers, Coverking Custom Car Covers are designed to withstand the color fading effects of the sun.
Construction
Coverking Custom Car Covers are designed and cut on sophisticated CAD/CAM systems, which Coverking pioneered twenty years ago. All outdoor Coverking Custom Car Covers are sewn using double needle and overlapped seams, resulting in a durable, leak resistant seam which has a backup stitch if the main stitch fails. Coverking’s indoor Stretch Satin fabric is sewn with a “blind seam” which is ideal for use in the indoor, show-car conditions the fabric was designed for. Coverking Custom Car covers have neoprene elastic tensioners sewn in the front and rear of every cover. Protected grommets for the optional security kit are sewn in the sides and covered, so as not to be visible when the car cover is covering a vehicle. All outdoor Custom Car Covers are sewn with heavy, wax coated thread. The thin coating of wax helps to seal the fabric where the needle pierced through, reducing the chance of leakage through the seam

Just to close the loop (because I hate reading threads that don't).

On the recommendation of a few of you, I bought a Covercraft Dustop car cover from Autoanything.com for my '69 Camaro (with dual outside mirrors).

The listing indicated no mirror ears, but I bought it anyway.

Price = $189.95 w/ free shipping. Best price I could find on that cover.

Their part number for the cover = 2649196.

Arrived in a few days and fit just fine. I have another Dustop cover for my Z06 and this is the same quality material.

My car has the rear spoiler and there are no fit issues with the spoiler or the dual mirrors.

Just thought someone else reading this might want to know the 'solution'.

I'll post a pic later when I get home.

Thanks for the help.
Chris

What ever cover you use on a first gen , I agree with Dennis, no mirror pockets. You or someone else, accidently pull the wrong way, you will find a dent in the mirror base. . Even if left out side and the wind got up pulled the cover the wrong way.
