Count me in, I am off both days and I need to grab a few things for the Nova. I am in for breakfast too. Let's figure out what day works best for everyone and set up something. I'm working nights and I get off Saturday morning at 6AM but, I will still go Saturday if that works best for everyone. Gary L Oct 24th, 08, 07:57 PM I will see if we can make it. I like that show. So I take it they moved? I may show up @ Mimi's if I get outa here early enough, so I can sit with your buddies if I make it, but usually Mimi's has no problem with adding a few people to a reservation. My 80 year old mom will be with me, and she is a total gearhead like the rest of us... she's the only one who doesn't freak out and look for something to hold onto when I hammer the throttle, and I would have to say the best co-pilot I have ever had. I enjoyed meeting you guys Saturday rain or not, and I want to thank both of you again for kicking down your extra tickets for Sunday, saving me a few bucks that will help finish one of my Camaro's. Along with my 80 year old Mom who was with me Saturday, I have an Autistic son and a beautiful daughter who both love hot rods that will be going with us on Sunday who said to tell you both thanks... Royce, I think we came out of the same mold and it's cool to meet someone who can carry on an intelligent conversation, and after talking to you it's obvious you know your sh!t and very willing to share your knowledge. I will be getting ahold of you in the next couple weeks when I go to Vacaville and can't wait to see your latest project, and just so you know, my buddy Rick you met with the Buick is one of the best people you could ever know, and is the kind of guy who will do anything for you (and also why he gave you his phone#). He is always around other guys into hot rods & parts, so if you ever need anything feel free to call him and ask, as he gets around and knows a lot of people with a vast amount of resources, and that goes for me too as I have been doing this all my life and also know a lot of people into our hobby who are every bit as serious as we are about our cars. By the time I finally got my car warmed up and left it was 5 pm, dark, and I think I was the last car that left the fairgrounds... I hope your buddies didn't thrash you too bad on the way home for hanging out in the rain so we could talk for awhile, that was way cool... I really enjoyed myself the whole day and had more fun than I can remember @ a Goodguys show, as besides you guys there were a lot of nice people who stopped by to to talk about hot rods all day long. I also enjoyed seeing all the people who weren't scared away by the rain driving around like the sun was out...lol I will be cruising around again Sunday making noise and raising eyebrows, and I imagine there will be a lot less people there for various reasons, but I am still surprised on how many cars and people were there Saturday considering the weather forecast. If the rest of the members are like you guys, this is one hell of a place to share ideas and knowledge, and must say that Camaro people are more serious about our hobby than any other group I have ever met. Although the 57 is fast & fun it's not what I would consider a show car by any means, and you can bet I will be working my ass off this winter to get one or both of my Camaro's done in time for the March meet so I can show up in a Beauty, instead of the beast. I also saw more nice Camaro's there than at past Goodguys shows and many of them I have never seen before telling me the Camaro hobby is alive and well, did you guys notice the same thing? And Wagonman, your Camaro is BADD ASS dude... I am going to try and look you up on Sunday to say hi, and did I hear you right that you were driving that unreal black convertible around in the rain with the top down? I admire that, it takes balls to not let it rain on your parade (so to speak)! Again, I really enjoyed meeting you guys and look forward to hooking up in the future (and I owe you both a beer for your generosity!) Take care... Larry camaroman7d Nov 9th, 08, 10:00 AM Larry, It was great hanging out with you. We'll do it again for sure. don't forget to look me up when you are headed to Vacaville. That is so COOL that your mom was hanging out. I didn't even realize it was your mom in the car. The guys with me gave me a hard time because I met and knew so many people there. Most of them from this site. I can tell you the guys on this site are great and I have never met one that I didn't like. I've met a lot of them and try to make it to any event that someone I haven't met will be at. Your 57 is old school for sure but, that makes it cool. You can tell it's not a new car to "look" old school like so many others that are out there. It's the real deal and people really appreciate that. I saw a lot of guys checking it out and giving it thumbs up. People that can't understand aren't true gear heads/car guys. I liked Ricky's car too and saw quite a few people looking it over most probably not knowing what type of car it is. I will be in touch with him as well, good people. camaroman7d Nov 9th, 08, 10:04 AM Wagonman, I didn't really get to hang out or talk to you much. Hopefully we'll get that chance sometime soon. Z28 Mark Nov 9th, 08, 02:10 PM I didn’t make breakfast but did see Farm Boy (Steve) and the other Steve and got to meet Royce… man he is tall and few others and I did see Wagonmans 69 – very nice car. Gary L Nov 9th, 08, 04:53 PM ........... did the weather hold all day? Nope, but I did enjoy driving in the rain in a weird sort of way. I know I need to get the trunk sealed.:D We were back at the room around 2:30. Mark, we had a seat at the table Saturday for you. As usual it was great to meet up with all the TC guys. Dennis, John, John, Steve, Steve, Royce, Lane, Chris, Kenny and I forgot the last one Royce. :clonk:However there always seems to be a "glitch". I invited Steve, Steve and John to stop by and have a beer after the car show in the motel bar. They showed up a little late after I had made a dinner appointment with my wife's cousin from Plesanton. I had to leave for dinner and leave the three of them in the bar. When I returned I had a note and a voice message from the manager to come to the lobby as soon as I returned. Evidently the three of them caused some problems after I left. I did get a phone message that they had too much to drink and were having some problems leaving. I could only imagine that dreamweaver was spouting some of his conservative drivel in the Bay Area bar (Pleasanton) and FarmBoy and Vintage68 had to bail him out. wagonman Nov 9th, 08, 08:23 PM Wagonman, I didn't really get to hang out or talk to you much. Wish I lived closer to California. ls427ss Nov 10th, 08, 09:57 AM Well I cruised around Sunday until I finally ran into Wagonman, said hi and talked for awhile. We realized he didn't turn in his ticket to win the Goodguys giveaway 65 Mustang, so off we went to enter. By the time I got there with my entry he told me he ordered disc brakes for it, so I told him I ordered a new hood and a 5 speed cause I was going to win it... lol I told him we would have to go to Safeway and get a bag for our head if we won it so we could drive it home, and you guessed it, neither one of us won it... Again it was great to meet you guys and I look forward to meeting more of you next time... hopefully I will have one of my Camaro's done by then so I can be cool too. All in all it was one of the best show weekends I can remember, and I met alot of cool people who were there looking at cars and just stopped to shoot the breeze. I'm telling you, Wagonman's Camaro vert is one bad ass ride and I hope I didn't upset him by drewling on it, I just wish I could have seen him driving around in the rain Saturday with the top down... And thanks again to Camaroman7d and Vintage 68, we had a blast and my Autistic son took to Wagonman right away, but I didn't tell him about his 69 Big Block vert because he would have bugged him till he took him for a ride and did some burnouts. There was half the cars and people that were there on Saturday, but the weather was great. The only problem I had was I was rocking out listening to the 1200 watt stereo in my 57, and the Goodguys officials came up and told me to turn it off... never had that happen before, but 8 to 10 songs at 3/4 throttle will kill my deep cycle Optima anyway... so it was all good. TTFN... Larry camaroman7d Nov 10th, 08, 09:00 PM Boy it sounds like ya'll had a great time. Wish I lived closer to California. There's plenty of room Mike we would love to have you here. |
