i saw a thread about tire and wheel sizes elsewhere on team camaro. however, they were 99% 1st generation cars. i'm wondering how big of a tire and wheel can you fit on a 79 Z-28. any sizes of tires and wheels with back spacing and pics would be greatly appreciated. the car has stock suspension. thanks.

I had 15"x10" with n50s on my 77 and only had to put air shocks on. I had to keep them maxed out with air and it was a ruff ride but looked nice.

All four of my tires are 235/60 on my 79, with stock rims. I have it slightly lowered. I think if you remove the lump from the seat belts in the back wheel well you can fit a larger tire.

I run 225/60/15 on front and 255/6015 in the rear. I still get a little rub in the front but my spring are old.

Corvette 15 X 8 Rally rims do work nicely on the 2 GEN. You can mount P235's on the front, providing the sub frame is perfectly aligned and P295's on the rear. The off set places the tire outward and makes the car look mean.

2nd Generation Camaro Wheel & Tires Fitment Chart (http://en.chevroletcamaro.cz/archive/2008/07/15/2nd-generation-camaro-wheel-tires-fitment-chart.aspx)

For those who are interested in buying new wheels and tires for his 2nd generation F-Body (Camaro & Firebird) sweetheart, Steve from Nasty Z28 (javascript:void(0);/*1227348740403*/) forum prepared a nice and clear spreadsheet with combinations that fit. Potential issues with fitment such as interference, rolled lip, suspension mods, spacers, etc. are listed in the last column. The wheel and tire combinations listed are intended as a guide for 70-81 Camaros or Firebirds. They are as stated from other camaro owners. There is no guarantee for fitting. Measuring for fit is the sole responsibility of the person purchasing and installing these combinations.
The source table from where I got the data can be directly downloaded here (http://en.chevroletcamaro.cz/stuff/Wheel%27n%27Tires.xls). Please, don't link directly the file but rather this page. Thanks.

I'm partial to the second gen 5 spoke factory rims like these ones on Mrs. McGoos car.

I'm just waiting for a 17 inch version of these wheels.

i am ptting on 18x8 with 235/40 in the front and 18x9 with 275/40 in the rear. Go to www.newstalgiawheel.com and go to wheel visualizer use this to pick your car and what you want for rims and tire to see how it will look. It is an excelent web site for picking rims and tires.
